Awesome! It also made it to YouTube.
That's the only time you lost it?!?
The movies were, yeah.
I actually prefer the original Police Squad!, though...I didn't much care for Frank Drebin being portrayed as a flat-out idiot, like the movies did. I liked him better in the series, when he was a straight-laced decent cop.
And the humor in the TV series was as good, if not better, than anything in the movies.
"We're sorry to bother you at a time like this, Mrs. Twice...We would have come earlier, but your husband wasn't dead then."![]()
When Naked Gun was being shown on regular TV (and edited for television), there was an instance where they replaced "beaver" with "one" (which of course has no context with the joke.) After that, all my friends would constantly say "Nice one" whenever we'd go to a strip club. The dancers had no idea what we were talking about, but we found it hilariously funny.
"You take a risk getting up in the morning, crossing the street... or sticking your face in a fan."
My strongest memory is the dream sequence that directly lampoons the scene in Untouchables with the baby carriage going down the stairs. Nordberg saves the baby and then does an endzone celebration with it.
Police Squad! has some of my favorite jokes ever put to film.
