edit: btw no I haven't seen the movies, I was told to wait until after I saw the series itself. Is there any particular order I should watch them in?
You're lucky in that you'll get the opportunity to spend an extra six hours or so in the Babylon 5 universe. :D

I see you're from Australia but if they have the TV movie box set out over there, watching them in the order they're presented works fine. I'll assume you've seen the pilot movie, The Gathering.

- In The Beginning should be watched first out of all the movies.
- Thirdspace is set early in season four, between Illusion of Truth and Atonement.
- River of Souls is set six months after Objects at Rest, I usually watch this one before Sleeping in Light if I'm going through the series.
- A Call To Arms is sort of like a pilot for the failed series Crusade. It's set five years after season five of Babylon 5, and should be the last movie you watch.

If you can get your hands on the DVDs, I think you'll be very pleased. River of Souls is the only one I don't enjoy a lot, the other three range from good to great to outstanding. Seriously, In The Beginning is one of the defining elements of what makes Babylon 5 great.

Do you have any ideas if season 5 will be coming out on dvd here sometime soon?
Season 4 only turned up a few weeks ago, so Lord knows when we'll get S5 or the movies. Typical - we're always being ripped off. :p

It's great that you enjoyed it so much. :) But a series that great will overcome trivialities like crappy tapes. :D

And the midnight thing was unique to our wonderful channel 9 affiliate. Everyone else got it at 11pm, and a week earlier. So much better. :p :D

*** must not spoil *** :D But you have a great deal to look forward to, Steven.

Well I've watched a couple more eps of Farscape. :) And I'm still loving the show, hehe. While a lot of the plots are just decent, if that, I just love the characters so much that it's just a lot of fun to watch the show.
Anyway, the next ep I'm gonna watch in a few mins is "A Clockwork Nebari". And after that the "Liars, Guns and Money" three-parter. :)

How'd you like "Won't Get Fooled Again"? That ep never gets old for me; it's just too damned bizarre...plus it nicely answers a few plot questions re: John's visions.

It was a fun ep. :D I liked it a lot. I usually don't like these kinds of eps, but this one was just so wacky. Farscape really is a weird show, but hey, I like that. :D

I just watched the "Liars, Guns and Money" three-parter and I absolutely loved it. It was just so frelling sweet. You know, John is actually starting to be one of my favourite sci-fi characters ever. By the time I'm done with the show, he might even be my favourite, period. He's just such an awesome character, and his life is just such a frelling pile of dren, lol. :) Anyway, next up is "Die Me Dichotomy" which I heard is an awesome ep.

I posted this in the Commodore's Lounge, but I'd like to share it here too:

Okay everyone, I want to fess up to something.

This might shatter my tough guy image, but dammit, I want to get it off my chest.

Yesterday I got Futurama Volume IV. Last night I watched the episode "Jurassic Bark"

And I cried at the end. There aren't many moments in television and in movies that can make me misty eyed.

-Londo & G'Kar's last words to each other in season five of Babylon 5.
-Malcolm Reynolds finding Serenity (Because it reminds me of my dad and the peace he has found with his boat - Kokomo).
-Forrest Gump asking if his son is "like him".

There's some others, but those are the big ones.

So if you don't know much about Futurama, the main character Fry ends up cryogenically frozen in the present day and wakes up in the year 3000. It's a cartoon series by many of the same writers/producers as The Simpsons. As a sci-fi fan, I actually enjoy it over The Simpsons.

*** If you care about spoilers for a stand alone episode of a comedy cartoon series, turn back now... ***

In "Jurassic Bark", Fry finds the fossilized remains of his best pal from 1000 years earlier - his dog, Seymour. Using technology, then can bring him back too! The rest of the episode is split between flashbacks of Fry & Seymour having fun and loving each other in the late 1990's, and Fry in the year 3002 doing his best to bring his pal back to life.

At the end, Fry realizes Seymour would've lived another 12 years after he was frozen and gone on to love another person, and have fun with other people. This is the part that got me - we flashback to the year 2000, Seymour waits infront of Fry's old workplace where they met, and continues to wait for his old pal to come back the next 12 years, until he passes away.

I hope I explained it well, my eyes are a bit watery just thinking about it. It made me appreciate animals so much. I have a cat, Jordy and I gave her a big hug after the episode. My cat Jordy loves me unconditionally. And I feel the same way about her.

"Won't Get Fooled Again" is definitely a great 'Scape ep. Bizarre, but really entertaining. If I remember right, there's a commentary on that episode that's pretty good, too.

Welcome to the thread, stargirl. Babylon 5 has so many good little "a-ha!!" moments in it. Where you're watching and suddenly, that little supposed throw-away line 2 seasons ago opens your eyes and go "YESS!! I get it!" For those of you who are watching it fresh, be sure to watch the series again sometime and you'll be amazed at how many little things you'll pick up on in seasons 1 and 2 that you didn't necessarily see the first time around that end up paying off later.

Excellent point. I've watched B5 five or six times now, and each time I find something new or have some revelatory moment. It's extraordinary how well all the pieces fit together, and how often I'll find myself thinking "He set up (plot point) this early??" or the like. A very, very rewatchable series.

Well I've watched three more episodes of Farscape.

First I watched "Die Me Dichotomy" which was just absolutely amazing. It's like every single minute of that ep had something special in it. It was just sweet. :) The second part, "Season of Death" was great too. I am SOOOO loving this show right now. Like I said a while ago, S1 started off a bit slow, but starting with the second half of S1 this show got so good.

I just finished watching "Sons and Lovers" which was also a lot of fun. While definately not as good as the previous two episodes, it was still really good.

^Glad you're likin' it. Pretty much all of Season 3 is pure gold, so enjoy!

I finally got the new miniseries trailer downloaded, and my giddiness meter just went up a few notches. :D

Hi, stargirl. :D "Sleeping in Light" reduced me to a complete wreck when I first saw it - at midnight on Sept.9, 1999. :p It took me about two hours to get to sleep afterwards. ;)

Yeah...I cry every time I watch that one!!! SOOOOO sad!!! :(

Yep...I agree. This is, IMO, by far the best of the films. Good stuff there...and it really fills in alot of backstory.

-Why oh why can't we the viewers see what Kosh really is?! :p

Patience, my child...patience. ;)
You know, I was thinking I'd have to wait maybe another season or something, not the last episode of season 2.   :D

-What exactly can these Rangers do to help out? Just gather information?

Please see above. :p
Hmm... so they're couriers too? :p

Watched "Comes the Inquisitor" and "The Fall of Night"
-Very strong piece of character for Delenn to go through all that. She really does have a place to play in the coming events and really believes that.
-Half a season ago, G'Kar was ready to forgive and peace would reign. Then a slight mis-timing caused war... :(

-God damn Earth Alliance. What the hell?!
-Boy, has Londo really changed over the past year. Before, fun loving and serious when necessary. But now, serious all the time and realizing that glory isn't all it's cracked up to be.
-Kosh. :D
-It was said that the Shadows weren't aware that we know about them. Well, they should be aware now that video footage of one of their ships is playing across the ISN.

And I'll stop here, because I don't have season 3. (Yet ;))

Hey, it takes a REAL MAN to admit he can cry like a wuss :p

Just kidding man. I've never seen that ep, but just reading about it started to get me a little misty. I hope they show it on Cartoon Network sometime.

Welcome stargirl! Great to see all the discussion bringing in new blood

Lord knows how many times I've seen it since, and the last 10 or so minutes get me every single time. :(

Edit: I somehow managed to miss Steven's reply on the first go-round. I take it you'll be getting season 3 ASAP? Or are you not intrigued yet?

^ I think it's safe to say that he is "intrigued". ;)

Steven...It was all I could do yesterday...knowing how close you were to the end of season 2, to not say anything about Kosh! That was GREAT!

And so when are you gonna get season 3? IMO, the best season of any scifi show *ever*!!!! :D

Oh...and SB...I think it's time we made you an Honorary Niner! :D

So glad you have joined our little gang in here!

Might get it tomorrow when I head into the city. I finally got my DS9 DVD rebate the other day, so that's $25. :)

Which reminds me of something I ought to have said in my previous post...

Thanks for directing me to this thread, Steven. :)

David Mack put a few of us beggars into his books. ;) The thread actually started out as a joke, but then a couple of the authors started saying "okay," and I was one of the lucky ones, because David said he thought my name was pretty. :)

I'm Kriosian (same race as Kamala from "The Perfect Mate" - which means I get spots - LOL), and I'm on a mission team with Vale and an officer named Lt. Fillion. :D

First mention, p. 119. *bounces in glee*

Heh, I just read that part. I remembered reading this post earlier, and kept an eye out for your character. :D

So, who thinks I should try to tell Nathan he has a namesake in a Trek novel when I go to Dragon*Con this weekend?
