And I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the girl that played Polydora looked a lot like Jessica Alba. :D At least I know I'm not going insane, lol.
Man... I'm always up for some Jessica Alba! Well, almost always; I haven't convinced myself to see Honey yet. That's just not what I want to see her in (I really did like her in Dark Angel). She's doing a part in the upcoming Sin City, so I'll be keeping my eye on that.

I'm gonna miss my g/f terribly, but...I'll live lol. Two and a half months seems like a piece of cake compared to six months that we've had to endure in the past.
Hang in there man! I've done the long-distance thing myself before. All throughout college with one girl - man what was I thinking?!?!? ;) Anyway, it's work, but I think it's worth sticking out the away times if you see yourselves coming together long-term.

/\ You're flying home on Canada Day?! :(

Don't hit any fireworks over Ottawa, k? ;) :p And have a safe flight. :)

Yeah, I'm not good with holidays back home, how the hell was I gonna remember that it's Canada day on July first when I was booking the ticket lol. :D

Well me and my g/f watched Honey a while ago. It wasn't awful, I'll put it that way, lol.

Well, we've been dating for about three and a nine months now, and out of that, we've phyiscally been together for about two years and four months. I mean hey, our whole relationship started online. :)

So yeah...I'm going to the airport in about three hours. I have a 25 min flight to Vancouver first. Then I gotta check-in there, I'll have about two hours to kill. After that, I have a 'nice' flight to Frankfurt, which is about nine and a half hours. There I have a 5.5 hour layover and then another two hour flight to Klagenfurt in Austria. My folks are picking me up there and then we have a 45 minute drive to my house. :) Should be fun...not.
Like I said though, I should be online every day, so no worries, I'll be back. :D

BigFoot...I always thought you were Canadian!

So are you telling me that you are actually Austrian then? Wow!

I've been to Austria a couple of times. It's a great country! :)

^ Nope, I'm neither Canadian or Austrian. :D I'm from Slovenia, a small country to the south of Austria. It was cheaper for my to fly from Austria, so that's where I'm flying from. :)

Online dating, eh? That's a realm I haven't tried yet, though I have some friends with success stories. Well, seems like you've got a good track record (3+ years, I'd say that's good). I actually knew my ex since we were like 5 years old. Our relationship lasted almost 4 years, but we didn't see ourselves getting together in the same place even after we graduated college. So, I think it strained the relationship too much & we broke it off. Still friends, though.

Wow, that trip you're taking sounds like fun (yeah right :p) I used to drive from Ohio to Alabama when I was at school up there, and that was 10-11 hrs. But going to a different country? I think you've got me beat  Enjoy!

Bleh! I knew this...you used to have something about it in your location, didn't you?

 I can't believe I forgot this. :p

Wow, I thought Bigfoot was from the US for some reason. Learn something new every day.

Well, I finally got some time to post tonight. I think my fears are coming true. I am loosing interest in this place. :(

Anyway this has been a busy week. Weird stuff happening at work, such as today having to white out the letter E on 15,000 forms. (I had just started before I left) However, some good news, tonight is my final night as a teenager. Tomarrow is my birthday and I am turning 20. I'm looking foward to it.

Also today, I finally got Glasses. I've always been nearsighted, so I needed to get some so I can see. Don't want to turn 20 blind as a bat now do I. ;)

Happy birthday!

I'll be 20 in a couple weeks too. :)

Well....I'm home! :) Some things have changed (my folks re-did the bathroom and the living room), and some things are just as they were when I left. :) Either way, it's good to be home. The flight was definately long and I'm quite tired and jet lagged right now, but I should be okay in a couple of days. :)

Yeah...it seems to be working out. We're moving back to my place in about a year. :)

Lol yeah...I've done the same trip about...10 times in the last four years, so I'm really sick of it. I have no problems with the flying itself, it's the lack of leg room and the long sitting that bugs me, lol. But yeah...I survived, lol. :)

Hehe, no worries. :) I forget bits of info about other people all the time. Who are you again? :D j/k

Anyway... tomalak301, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! :) I hope you're having fun.

^Glad to see you made it home safe & sound. Enjoy!

It's probably belated at this point, but Happy Birthday, tomalak. Hope it was a good'un! Y'kno, I've found that I don't post as frequently as I used to either. I wonder if it's just that some of the excitement has worn off? I think for me I've been either very busy working or visitng other places and I don't make it to TrekBBS as often. Then I mainly only visit DS9 & Sci-Fi/Fantasy. I need to get back into Lit & the Commies Lounge; I really enjoyed those.

Eh, maybe it's just a phase ;)

^ Thanx buddy. :) Yeah, I got home same...I was damn tired though, lol. But I've been sleeping pretty decent. I actually managed to stay up until 11pm on the first day, which really helped. Otherwise I would've been up at 4am, lol. Anyway...being home has been fun. It's nice to be able to spend some time with the folks, my bro and my puppy. I actually think I missed my dog the cost, probably cos I got to talk to everyone else on the phone and you can't really do that with a dog, lol. I've had lotz of time to chill, so I've been reading Trek and playing Halo, lol. :D

Thanks Kevs.

The Birthday was really good, but the best part was yesterday when I went to see Spider-Man 2. Man that was a great movie, better than the second. I'm not going to post a long review in the interest of spoilers, but it did a great job developing the characters, the action sequences were great, and for someone who doesn't read the comic books, the ending opened up some great questions, while answering so many others.

[rant]

Okay, over a month ago, I ordered Farscape Season 1 from DeepDiscountDVD.com. So, I called them yesterday with my, "Hello, it's STILL not here" call. It must have been lost or stolen. Well, duh. We'll send you a new one, but they're on back order. It'll be at least another week.

*mutter grumble threaten-to-strangle*

[/rant]

I want my FARSCAPE NOW!!!!!

;)

Hang in there Sakrysta! Yeah, that's the big downside of mail/telephone/internet ordering. No real guarantees on when you'll get it. Sometimes, there's nothing like going in that brick & mortar and getting it exactly when you want it.

^ Yeah, I agree, the other reason I prefer to buy DVDs at a store is cos I just like shopping for DVDs in person. There's just something about it that's just... cool. :)

It is great to be able to examine the product, maybe read the back and look at the pictures. Online, the synopsis is there (sometimes with much more info), but the pictures aren't always easiest to see. Plus, you might see some random item on the shelf that you weren't thinking about and that might catch your interest. There's some of that online, but they gear it around what you've purchased before, so the "random" factor isn't really there.

That's no rant against online; actually, I've purchased about all my videos recently online other than DS9. But my main reason was because I could get them cheap (used copies). Video rental stores are selling used DVDs more often (Blockbuster currently has a 3 for $25 offer), so I might be buying them online less often. I credit online stores with giving us more variety in choice & more competition in price.

^ Oh don't get my wrong, buying online definately has it's pros. I got all of Stargate SG-1 on DVD from amazon.ca. I got S1, S2 and S3 from them cos they were really cheap ($35 CDN per set), and then the local stores didn't have S4, so I just got S4, S5 and S6 online aswell. :) Lately I also order books from amazon.ca. So yeah, I don't mind buying DVDs online, but only if I definately know what I want and if there's a reason for it (ie cheaper price, availability). :)

Oh yeah, there's benefits in both. What do you find "cool" about rummaging around your local brick & mortar?

For me, probably the last time I really thought it was cool was when Blockbuster Music opened and they allowed you to listen to entire CDs as long as you wanted. That was a big pull when I was in college, especially since they built a big store with several stations to hang out in. I think they started putting restrictions on them though, so it became less popular. I don't think there's a location left near me.

That reminds me of another thing I liked about NetFlix: the rating system. I think they were the first ones I saw who asked you to rate movies and then get comparisons based on your ratings. I rated at least two hundred, and I can still pull up my ratings even though it's been a couple of years since I cancelled my membership. And it gave fairly good suggestions after I rated plenty of titles. That kind of thing is more commonplace now, but it was a unique way to get more suggestions online for items I might not have considered.

Well, I had already thoroughly shopped in "real time" before ordering the Farscape box. Besides, when it's $115 at Best Buy, and $89.99 from DeepDiscountDVD, well, there's really no choice.

I practically live in Barnes & Noble. I rarely buy books online because I want to be sure they're in good condition before I plunk down my money. But that's mainly with mass market paperbacks that tend to get damaged easily and are often printed crooked. Trades and hardbacks are safer to buy online. But really, DVD box sets are much cheaper to buy online.

What Barnes & Noble is for me in the real world, Amazon.com is for me in the virtual world. That website knows more about my tastes and interests than most real people. I've rated so many books, CDs, & DVDs that my recommendations are largely spot-on.
