Oh yeah, there's benefits in both. What do you find "cool" about rummaging around your local brick & mortar?

I don't know, I just get this...weird feeling of joy when I pick up a DVD at a local store and buy it. I also just like checking out diff DVDs, sometimes I even find some good stuff for a good price. :)

Totally off topic.

Today I downloaded A Series of Unfortunate Events trailer for my little sister. She's a big fan of the books and she has all of them. I like them myself but it looks like the movie is going to suck big time.

Now, the reason why I post this here is because of my sister's comment. We agreed that Jim Carrey is absolutely miscast as Count Olaf and then she said "You know who would be perfect as Olaf? Marc Alaimo."   I immediately had an OH MY GAWD moment. She is absolutely right. I remember when I was reading the books my image of Olaf looked very similar to Marc, I didn't realize it until she pointed it out .

Anybody else out there who is familiar with the ASOUE books and knows what I mean?

If not just tell kev to slide another bottle of Kanar my way and ignore my rambling :D.

I haven't read the books, but I've seen the covers, and I can COMPLETELY see where you're coming from.

I'll just bump this thread with a birthday recap. ;) :D

Yep, I can't tell you the joy I felt when I walked into BestBuy yesterday and saw Babylon 5 season 1 on the shelf. I picked it up (and managed not to drop it, unlike one of the Trek novels I picked up at Chapters :o) and promptly proceeded to the cashier. :D

Other then that, I also got 4 Trek books (A Time to Sow through A Time to Hate) and a Lord of the Rings soundtrack CD. :)

Then went to the casino and came out ahead $40. :D

All in all, a good day. :)

Oh yeah, I also went to Shrek 2 with my mom while my dad was in a meeting in the afternoon. It was a pretty funny movie.

^ It's cool that you had a good day. :)

So how much of S1 of Babylon 5 have you seen so far? I also need to get the A Time To... books at some point, though I'm hoping I'll get them for my g/f's and mine anniversary and maybe x-mas. At the moment I've still got so many books to read (like...20 trek novels) that it's all good. I actually started reading Prophecy & Change earlier today. I finished Ha'mara earlier and I liked it. :) Good stuff, hehe.

Anyway...being home has been great. I've got so much time on my hands, compared to when I had classes to go to and labs to do, lol. Me and my dad got a couple of new board games the other day and we've been playing those, they're lotz of fun. I've also been playing PC games a lot. I already finished Halo last week and now I'm playing both Red Alert 2 and Star Trek: Elite Force 2. :) Like I've said, I've also been reading a lot which I didn't have a lot of time for during the past year, except around x-mas. So yeah...while I do miss my g/f, life is fun. And the food kicks ass. :D :D :D

IIRC, I've seen to the end of disc 4 on my free trial with Zip.ca. I'll have plenty of time to watch them when my parents go away for a few days next week. ;)

A bottle of the finest Kanar for vermillion. Good riddens too, it's stinkin up my storeroom :p

I haven't read the books, but I did hear that there was going to be a movie about them that would have Jim Carrey. I prefer seeing Jim when he's not being Jim Carrey as whoever. I've been meaning to see Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind because it looks like the kind of off product that would show Jim doing something other than stupid body tricks. Not that those aren't hilarious ;) but I can only take so much.

Is Unfortunate Events the movie supposed to be a first in a series of movies? I guess since Harry Potter has done so well, the bandwagon has begun. I'm looking forward to The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe myself ;)

You know, I must say that I like the Babylon 5 disc boxes. They seem a lot more sturdy then the DS9 ones. Although I have a question: On the inside of front cover flap, there's a pocket. Is there supposed to be something there?

^ Yes. You should have gotten a booklet in there that gives a brief synopsis of all the episodes. ALSO something Paramount should have done with the Trek sets, but where too cheap to put in. :p

^I only have season 3 (You should have seen me in the store deciding which one to get S3 or s4. I was standing there for 15-20 minutes and my boyfriend was so embarrassed and pissed off, after a while he started chanting "Get the fucking DVD and let's go." :D). Unfortunately, after owning it for three months I dropped the box and it landed on the top corner and the plastic disk holders fell off :(. I do agree with Vash on booklets they are pretty cool. I wonder if B5 R1 and R2 sets are identical.

Thanks Kev. Don't be so hard on your beverages. You know you have the best Kanar in the sector :D.

Oh. Then I guess I should take it back, because I didn't get anything. :(

Booklets, eh? Now that's nifty. Yeah, I'd love to be able to flip through a DS9 booklet with each set and get a synopsis of the episodes. After I started getting the DVDs last year, I put this DS9 Episode Guide on my Palm and I get synopses that way. But a booklet would've really been helpful. Would that have been too much to ask, Paramount??!?!? Would it?!?!? ;)

/\ Yeah, next time I head into the city, I'll take it back and exchange it. Then I'll open it right at the cashier to make sure its there. ;) :p

^ That's a good plan, Steven. The booklet is really a nice thing to have. And IIRC, you are a fairly new B5 viewer - all the more reason to have a booklet!

To be honest, even though I love the show and have seen all of it at least twice, and parts of it 3-4 times, except for the "major episodes" and ones whose title clearly gives it away, I have to refer often to the booklets in order to remember what happened in which episode. B5 is a fairly complex show...and sometimes, if I want to see a particular scene or part of the arc, that booklet really comes in handy in helping me remember where would be a good starting place.

*peeks head in*

Boy, it's sure been quite awhile since I've been in this forum. How's everyone doing?

*looks around for familiar faces*

I sure was thinking to myself, "Goldie?" Pull a chair up man! I've got a plate of slitherin-fresh gagh and a pint of bloodwine waitin just for you! :D
