^ Well, I haven't seen the movie yet, but you're definately right about the temperature most likely killing the kid. It can get pretty cold back home sometimes in the winter, even as low as -40 C and it definately isn't fun. :D Like you said, you're damn cold at that temperature even if you're dressed for it.

Yeah, it gets that cold in parts of this country too you know. ;) :p

I haven't seen the movie yet, but that does sound pretty unbelievable Vash.

Peter O'Toole did an excellent job as well, IMO.

Yeah, he was great too. Like I said, except for Diane Kruger, I thought pretty much everyone was at least good, if not great. :)

Hehe, yeah I know that I gets really cold in some parts of Canada. :) I've just never experienced any kind of a winter here, so I can't really speak from experience. :) I think the most snow I've seen in BC was about a half an inch, lol.

Well, when you Canadians see it, you will know what I mean. Clearly, it was written by a person who has lived in Los Angeles his entire life.

I mean, it was a good movie and all. And of course, for the whole premise of the film, you had to suspend your disbelief quite alot. However, the gaffes related to cold-weather survival were avoidable with a little research...or a simple trip to the North Slope or Whitehorse in January.

^ Yeah, most people seem to have the same opinion about the movie. As long as you leave your brain at the door, it's a lot of fun. :) I haven't seen it yet, but I might rent the DVD.

Anyway...what I'm really hoping for, is that there's going to be a showing of Spider-Man 2 at the local theatre on wednesday around noon. Cos I'm going back home on thursday. It won't start playing there for another month, and I really want to see it. :) The reason I wanna go to an early showing is to avoid the rush. :)

Yep. Great way of putting it.

The DVD is certainly worth a rental. They did a good job with the special effects, I thought. And the story didn't have much "down time" that could have been cut out - it kept moving along at a good pace.

The acting was pretty decent too.

So yeah...I'd rent it. But I won't be buying it on DVD or anything...

Well, that may not apply right now. Whitehorse is like 10 degrees (celsius) warmer then Winnipeg. :borg:

Hey all

If anyone was wondering why I wasn't posting for the last two weeks, (I seriously doubt it) Last wednesday I got back from a two week trip to the midwest that included: Chicago, Milwaukee, St Louis, Minnesoda, and Carbondale Illinois. It was a fun, if not tireing trip because we ended up driving 2200 miles to all these places. We went to 3 baseball parks: Miller Park (The best one next to SBC but I'm biased :D ) Busch, and Comesky.

However, the best day wasn't siteseeing the cities (Not only did we do a ballpark tour, we also toured Miller Brewing Co. and the Budwiser company) the best day of the trip was the first sunday. We got a privatised tour of a farm, including a ride in a combine (Huge machine to get the seeds from wheat) and a tractor. That was hella cool.

Anyway, it's good to be back and hopfully I might post more on the TBBS. For some reason, tonight is the first time I've felt like posting on here so I maybe loosing interest. I found out that Star Trek is coming to DVD later this year. I can't wait for that and to see the series in its entirdy, not to mention seeing Devil in the Dark (My favorite episode) again.

So what has everyone been up to? I've just been chilling for the last couple of days. It's so nice not having to think about school, or do labs. I've been playing Need for Speed - Underground and it's fun. :D I also finally got Spider-Man on DVD (I got the superbit edition), just in time for Spider-Man 2. :)

I rented Firefly last week and at the moment I'm on the second to last disc. I've never seen it before and the question I kept asking myself while watching was, how come shows like this get killed off and crap like Andromeda continues to pollute our TV programming.

After I finished watching the first episode of Firefly I remember thinking, Sweet merciful lord baby Jesus Christ I LOVE this show. The last time I felt like that about a pilot episode of a TV show was when I saw Emissary for the first time. All characters are great and it's good to see a show that has stunning state-of-the-art visuals AND an even better story. Unlike other shows that spend 4 years barely trying to develop their main characters, Firefly establishes characters and relationships between them in the very first episode.

I also like the idea of a language other than English being used in the future, admittedly it's used mainly for swearing, but still it's a cool concept.
Why this show was canceled is beyond me.

I can't wait to see the movie.

You know, these Browncoat nanoprobes work better than I ever dreamed!

Welcome to the fold, vermillion! :borg:

^Oh yeah brown is definitely my color :D.
I just finished watching the last episode :(.
I hope Serenity will make enough money at the theaters next year that is the only way we could get this show back on the air.

^ Honestly the chance of the show coming back on air is very slim. Fox still owns the rights to a Firefly TV show, Universal only has the rights to a movie. So if Serenity does well at the B.O., then we'll get a sequel.

Either way...I finally got the mark for my last final, I did ok on it and I have an A in that course. :D We watched Spider-Man today and tomorrow my g/f and I are gonna go see Spidey 2. :D Should be fun, hehe.

At a recent convention, Jewel told us that Fox has the TV rights for the next 10 years. So we're pretty much in the movie business for a while.

For what it's worth, this is more the usual response to someone who doesn't worship the show. It just bothers me that fans are though of as obsessive maniacs who can't abide criticism of their show. We're not Enterprise fans. ;)

Hi all. Just reporting in.

I think that I may have seen the Spock face in the comet during the opening credits while I was watching The Changing Face of Evil (great ep, had the sound cranked up ;)). I saw what looked like a nose, so... *shrugs*

Well, like tomalak301, and Steven, I'm finally checking in! Just for a minute though; been real busy around the office lately. Good to see everyone's keeping the fires burning.

Thanks for the glaring error examples from Tomorrow, Vash! Yeah, I wondered about that too. They mentioned something about how Quaid's character could handle the trip cause he was used to traversing the plains of Antartica, so I guess I let it slide. Like BigFoot said, it's a 'check your brain at the door' kind of summer action flick. This one will not be gracing my DVD shelf either ;)

Neither will Troy. I agree, Eric Bana pretty much saves the film. Honestly (and I hope this isn't a SPOILER), the film gets less entertaining to me after he's gone. Good action though, and I liked how special effects are used to heighten the classic landscapes of movies like this. Polydora DOES look like Jessica Alba; maybe they would've gotten more interest out of me if they got her instead :D

Nice to see another Firefly convert, welcome vermillion! And thanks Sakrysta for giving us that link to some sane browncoats in our midst

I know we're out there!

Well, I think I'm caught up. I haven't seen Spider Man 2 yet; I think I'm waiting for some of the crowds to die down. Maybe I'll see it this weekend, that or Farenheit 9/11. I gotta see what all the fuss is about.

Yeah, you're right, Troy did sort of die-off (excuse the pun) after Hector bit the dust. I have to say he was definately my favourite character in the movie. And I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the girl that played Polydora looked a lot like Jessica Alba. :D At least I know I'm not going insane, lol.

Anyway...I saw Spidey 2 today. That was a really fun movie. :D I enjoyed it a lot. I'm not gonna post any spoilers in here, but I have to say I'm really happy with how most of the major plotlines ended. Yeah so I'm flying back home tomorrow for the summer. No worries, I'll still be online probably every day. :D I'm gonna miss my g/f terribly, but...I'll live lol. Two and a half months seems like a piece of cake compared to six months that we've had to endure in the past.
