A guy unfriend his dad

I am Facebook friends with my two youngest sons and with many of their friends as well. It has never caused a problem. We are all just one big family.

However I wouldn't post photos without my sons' permission.

I want to un-friend my mother but I can't do it. She spends 24/7 on Farmville and the like. All her posts revolve around Farmville and the like. She will post the same thing, 4 to 7 times. Forget it if there is a Farmville virus going around, then we are talking 10 to 20 times. So all I read from her are request to help build her barn, she doesn't need any more nails and now she needs plants or something.

I've hidden the Farmville comments, its the requests she post to her friends on FB to get help in Farmville I'm talking about.

You can hide your mom from your news feed without un-friending her. Then she'll still be on your friend list, but you won't see her posts. I did that with one of my cousins whose posts started getting offensive. She'll have no idea.

I didn't watch the video, but I can say I preemptively blocked my parents to prevent any issues.

That dad had it coming.

Although, I wonder if he's the kind of parent that shows the family picture album to any ol' friend of the kid the moment they come in the door -sounds as if the 'kid' knew his dad to be just like that!

I informed both my parents that no way in hell will they be on my friends list.

Which is the way it should be. They're not your friends, dammit, they're your parents!

What I find most interesting is that “unfriend” is now an actual word. Sounds like Orwell’s Newspeak if you ask me.

I'm a bit unfair, mom is on my list, but not dad. It's nothing personal, it's just that I work for my dad and I want to have liberty to wine about my job a bit after the day is done.

My dad doesn't have Facebook, but my mom and stepmom do. I don't have them on Facebook because I like having my privacy. There are certain barriers that are perfectly acceptable to exist between a parent and their children. It's nothing personal and they understand completely.

Besides, if I want to talk to them there's this neat invention from way back called a "telephone". I use that to talk to them.

I friended my parents. If there is nothing on FB I wouldn't want my employer to see, then my parents can see it.

After watching the video, if my parents had a picture of me as a kid like that one with that guy on a toilet, it would be my profile picture.
