A French Captain speaking French

Hi guys
Ive just came back from a season in val d'Isere where I've been practising french daily and causing much amusement amongst work colleagues.
I really want to improve my French so Im cotinuing to study it daily and found i can also do t when relaxing by puting the french audio on the TNG dvds. First time hearing Picard without a British accent. I still need to use subtitles which I know aren't word for word but it's still useful.
Has anyone else tried this whilst learning a language? Also do you know of any other good sci fi that has french speaking option. I found my BSG dvd didn't which was a bit disapointing. I've got the entire ds9 series to do the same with as well.

Before DVDs, I watched the entire runs of TNG, DS9 and Babylon 5 in German, because that was my only option at the time.

No, because it happened in real life, not in a comedy about World War 2.

Did you find the show to be different in German? I watch the shows occasionally in Spanish and the voice actors placing emphasis on words differently, and sometime entire lines are changed in the course of translation, resulting in a new feel to the various episodes.

Did you get a different Star Trek?

Like in German Warehouse 13, Saul Rubinek has the voice of TNG Data.
German Picard is everywhere cause the two dudes that voiced him do all kinds of documentary voice-overs and commercials. That's pretty cool in a way. I like ol' Picard explaining me stuff.
The translation however mostly sucks. They got doctors for translating ER and whatnot, but they'd need knowledgeable Trekkers to translate TV Trek right.

Could've been worse. The original dub of TOS is atrocious, with translation errors and other problems all over the place. And don't get me started on TOS:Animated!!!

BTW: Somehow I still prefer the original dub of TNG which was done for the video release (before a national TV channel secured the rights for the whole show) over the other dubbed versions (although nothing beats the original).
