The older members surely remember Ghost07

. She is an elderly lady in the eastern US who has a great sense of humour, is always friendly and particularly fond of cats. From one day to the next, she vanished and no replies came from her old address. @auntiehill was able to stay in contact and was so kind to recently forward me Ghostie's current address.

I just this moment received a letter from Ghost07 and it sounds pretty desperate. She is not only isolated because of Corona but because they took away her apartment. As nobody knew where she had gotten to, nobody but auntie contacted her and she's desperately lonely. It's an ultra-isolation worse than any we have to undergo.

And this is where all of us can do something to help: let's send tons of postcards from all over the world! Please contact me (or auntie) for the address. I'd rather not post it openly here.

Here's what Ghostie says:

I was forced into the nursing home because they threw me out of my apartment because I was in the hospital and it was management's negligence that put me in the hospital. One day they said I had to go to the nursing home because I was homeless, that's how I found out I had lost my apartment. Within half an hour I had been moved to the nursing home. There is no sign they'll ever let me go, either.
I really need to know that somebody cares.
Most of all, I need picture postcards, Reminders that someone still remembers me.
Just write to me!
Just a picture postcard even. I just want to know that someone cares that I'm still alive.

Nursing-homes are like that very horrible.. I broke my ankle into 25 pieces of bone... I was put in a nursing home.. 3 months omg this was a eye opening experience for me... I had a older friend get put into the same nursing home a different part .. he was already there... he died there.. it’s not healthy or friendly between the staff and patients .. my roommate there had a fight with all the staff.. poor guy.. if I had not forced them I can to let me out to my apartment I would of lost my apartment and.. had to stay there till some how I got a new place there were young people there like me then that things like that happened to.. I will write her omg society does that to everyone... specially people that have nobody.. I have nobody but nieces in a different state.. that have their own life... I can see something like that happening to me.. so sad.. I can send art post cards I make... I have water color paper post cards add I have lots of water colors to use.. I will paint more flowers every one likes my flowers..

I am going to send you a PM.. for her address.. I remember her..by her avatar not name but maybe.. I will look into what she posted..

Got out my watercolors pad underneath a bunch of brush and ink works. finished the top image with the watercolors always left ready to use.. I had used pastel on the pad and just filled in the blank spots with colors.. tore off the page and started new..

I tried to do something of a flower but that did not happen IDK. why? but it became a blue ocean with the sun and a cloud and two birds --- mmmm Picture here-

I have two stamps left till I can get more tomorrow and will send this out --- I sent you a PM too.

I hope she likes this --- the birds are kinda like common in my landscape works they are..--

This is Puzzle. He was rescued 16 and a half years ago in northwestern Illinois in early November. He was sitting beside the road in the rain. He was muddy, one eye caked shut, and had a cut on his ear. He was named Puzzle because he was in pieces.

He's doing fine after all these years.

Can't get out to post anything as still isolating. Can we get her on line ? If there's internet in her nursing home there's a community here for her.

If she's not got a device could she get something small like a Kindle Fire ?

She has severe arthritis so I doubt she can type.

She sent me a card that was very legible. I think she can type short texts. A kindle is a good idea but in some hospitals and nursing homes they don't allow them because their radio signal interferes with some ICU machines. I'll try to contact the home and ask.

thanks, auntie! My apologies for not reading this sooner. I've been a bit unwell the last days.

a little update: I just received a letter from Ghostie. She really hates the place she lives and is very happy about the cards she received so far

She wrote me too-- I sent her some decorations for her room and she was so very happy! For anyone out there who'd like to just send a little sunshine to someone in the dark, murky world we currently live in--send Ghostie a note to say hi! Even if it just literally says hi, I know she'd love it!
