A&F

I know a lot of gays use to work in the A&F where I live. I would go in there and look around at them, not the clothes. I met two guys that did work there. They have since left the company.

Can't say I've ever seen the appeal of A & F. The people I know who shop at A&F with any sort of regularity are rather douchey man-boys who are comically oblvious to the heavy homoerotic overtones in A&F's marketing (the company is a client of photographer Greg Gorman -- look him up).

But, my clothes budget pretty much confines me to the Target clearance rack and thrift store chic, so I'm not their demographic anyway.

I can't bring myself to walk into Abercrombie. Everything about the store seems so pretentious. It's developed a reputation as the clothing of choice for upper-middle class, spoiled frat boys. The clothes are overpriced and really not worth it.

And for twinks, don't forget twinks. There's one at an upscale mall in my area. Unfortunately, for my age, their clothing line just doesn't appeal to me; I mean, it never did to begin with.

The only thing I've ever been tempted to buy from A&F is the fleecewear (seriously, why are chic, warm, nicely tailored sweats so hard to find?), but the price tags continue to dissuade me from even that...

Not a fan of A&F. Not really their demographic, though, so my dislike is hardly surprising. BTW, the intensity of the smell and the noise, both mentioned upthread, are absolutely deliberate and part of their marketing strategy. It clearly works on the demographic they're aiming at.

I have to wonder about that though, because who DOES like to be choked to death and unable to talk to or clearly see the person next to them in a store? I remember thinking it was just as awful back when I was a preteen and then teenager. I guess I just didn't know anyone who actually enjoyed being inside the place, it was more like they shopped there in spite of the atmosphere.
