If it wasn't for public executions, there would be no Christianity, they know who they are and where they are from, and it would be the height of hypocrisy for the totality of that religion to question the death penalty, otherwise they'd still be Jews.
People can't. So they go on TV and yell and scream to try to be heard because they can't stand by their opinions because it's not based on facts. Then when they get call out for speaking out of their ass they attack the media they were using to try to get their idiotic points across.
I have also never met a single person who ever went "I'm bored, I think I'll have an abortion for fun". I'm for keeping the right of a woman to do what she pleases to her body. But I guess some people are such in favor of small government they want it to invade people's virginias.
But it's also like the people who are against common sense gun laws (like background checks) saying that guns aren't the problem, it's the mental people's fault. Which of course it is, but then they won't actually support increasing health care funding for people so we can get them help before they go around killing people.

A) That assumes non-sentient life is the same as sentient life.
B) Nobody blames law abiding gun owners for the deaths of children. They do blame people who think anybody who wants to should be able to get a sub-automatic WITHOUT being vetted for mental health and criminal history just because they sub-automatic weapons are cool.
C) Nobody is in favor of abortion. They are only in favor of the owner of the womb in question being the one to make the decision.

Alternatively I read a short story by Harlen Ellison which was the reverse of this where children upon turning 21 were allowed to sue their parents for unsatisfactory childhoods.
