Different Scenario- What if Beverly was assimilated instead of Picard?

I'd imagine a grief-stricken Captain struggling to keep his crew going, while losing a close friend in a great crisis. Granted, the Borg would just learn about the medical knowledge of the Federation.

And it might develop a new relationship between the Captain and Wesley.

eh, I think the symbolism of Captain Picard as the captain of the strongest ship in the fleet was more important to the Borg than some random doctor.

True.

But for the sake of my scenario, what if the Borg had the opportunity to assimilate the CMO on the spot, when they were not able to take Picard?

I really don't understand. The reason they took Picard was because he would be a respected figure and that the populace would listen to a strong man and make assimilation easier. Hence the name Locutus, which roughly translates as speaker.

What would be the point in taking Crusher? The abduction needs to make sense from the antagonist point-of-view.

There was a series of fanfic a few years back with this premise. Didn't read it myself, it didn't really interest me.

Ignore the plot purposes

It's kind of hard to ignore the plot purposes when your scenario really doesn't make a whole lot of sense to begin with. But to play devil's advocate, there's no way in hell Picard would act in the manner that you've described. He wouldn't need to "struggle to keep his crew going." He and the rest of the crew are professional Starfleet officers, trained to deal with crisis situations such as this. He would perform his job and leave the grieving for later.

Of course that's not actually what happened when he learned of his brother and nephew's death in Generations, but that doesn't count. Movie Picard isn't the same person as TV Picard.

Didn't Picard nearly blow it when giving orders that put his lady friend in danger? I'd imagine Beverly meant more.

And what was the purpose of assimilating Annika Hansen? She was hiding under a console. They came across her. There may have been some situtation where the drones came across her while boarding the Enterprise.

Why didn't they assimilate Super Wes? They could've been unstoppable with his limitless knowledge and abilities.

I think a much better-conceived version of BOBW would have shown a grief-stricken crew dealing with the abduction and assimilation of Mr. Mott...

With long, matted hair and ruffed beards... yep
That explains the appearance of the alternate Riker in Parallels.

I love that picture!

Isn't that an image of the alternate Riker from the universe where he was known as a man of constant sorrow? And where are the other Soggy Bottom Boys?
