Eh, Amazon makes things up for the sake of their form listings. They've been pushing their dates back in six month intervals for a while now.
That said, I wouldn't be one to claim the book won't be out in October or later. Until Martin announces that it's done, I'm continuing to think of it as a long way off indeed.

Amazon does that. It could be out earlier than that or it could be out later.
A sensible move.
As longtime GRRMologists know, Martin works slowly anyway, and he has new things on his plate -- like the HBO pilot -- taking up his time. His Wild Cards comic series has been beset with delays, Green Ronin's ASOIAF RPG has been delayed several months pending GRRM's approvals. He's a busy man, and writing can take the backseat sometimes. *shrug*
Amazon's guessing but they're more optimistic than the folks at Barnes & Noble's internal system. That shows April 2013. Of course, until last year it also listed Unseen Frontier as still coming out as well.
