Think I’ve mentioned elsewhere: Klingons may get individually beaten in multiple skirmishes, but ever notice: almost every time there’s an actual full-scale war with the Federation — DISCO, “Yesterday’s Enterprise”, DS9 — by the end, things are going badly for the Federation, which is only saved by a plot twist, not combat. The Klingons may tend to lose individual battles with brilliant hero captains, but they’re good at outright war, and that stands to reason.
A Cross-series Observation: If Klingons are such legendary warriors, why are they so easily defeated or dejected by Starfleet?

They have a larger set of forces dedicated & trained for combat.
Where as most of StarFleet are "Multi-Role" Officers where Combat is only part of their purview and not their "Sole Focus".
It's funny but I wanted to disagree with the bit about DS9 because it seems like they were both at a stalemate or it wasn't all out war, it seemed to me at least. But then I thought about the fact the Klingons were fighting a war on two fronts and still holding their own and it makes your point moreso
The Klingons were like 6 months away from total victory in the Narendra timeline. Granted it took them 20 years.

The thing with Klingon Forces is that they lack alot of Medical, Engineering, & Scientific Staff compared to the Over Specialization in Combat.
There's just too many Klingons trained for Combat, but not enough to other "Non-Combat" related stuff.
This is why I think they would be a good fit within the UFP in a 26th Century and above.
We know that the Klingons & Romulans eventually join the UFP further into the timeline.
Adding them will only make the UFP stronger when both of those species serve underneath StarFleet.
The same with the Cardassians & Bajorans.

Seems a bit ridiculous for an advanced space faring species not to have adequate logistics and support.
Perhaps the conquered peoples of the empire were used to fill those roles.

The conquered people supply support, they just are deliberately shit at it. They do just enough to get by as an act of resistance.

O Rly? Medical is virtually non-existent in the Klingon Empire, yes, but we have seen Klingon engineers and scientists. Indeed, Klingon ships do have a dedicated Science Officer, and there is a Science Station on Klingon bridges.
There is 1x person sitting at the Science Station.
I doubt they have entire "Science Departments" like StarFleet has on nearly all their ships.
Or massive "Engineering Departments" like StarFleet usually has.
They probably have a few Klingon Engineering Officers and call it "Good Enough".
We need more people to man Tactical or something "Combat Related."
Or trained officers to be "Boarding Party" members.
Their balance is so skewed towards everything related to Combat that it's Comical if not Farcical at this point.
That's just bad writing. Folks too enamored with the whole Viking-samurai biker ethos.

I don't see any reason to think the Klingon ships function without an engineering department. If you want the ship to work, and especially if you want it to work again after sustaining damage in honorable combat, you need an engineering department. Multiple engineering jobs in different parts of the ship which have to be minimally manned at all times and several during Condition 1.
Just like warships of Earth's 1940s all had engineering departments, whether they were Japanese, or Soviet, or Italian, or American, or German. Real need wins over idealogy.
