A couple of thoughts about S5 eps...

...specifically Cost of Living and I, Borg (which I re-watched today):

*Cost of Living - I can't recall the last time I had seen this episode, b/c I remember it being so bad. Yeah, I remembered correctly. Absolutely nothing worthy of my time in this episode. A boring B-story, plus putting Alexander and Lwaxana together on the holodeck?!? Worf in a mudbath?!? Total waste of 45 minutes. One of the 3 or 4 worst episodes of the entire show.

*I, Borg - I still really like this show, but each time I watch it I get a little more sickened over the moralizing that Dr. Crusher does. Seems they cared more about how they'd feel than about saving future lives if they could cripple/destroy the Borg (and who knows if it would have worked?). Though I suppose this moralizing is consistent with the warm-fuzzy PC-rich garbage of the early 90's.

Any thoughts on this? Agreements or am I way off base?

You don't like wind-dancers, I take it?

But yes, I agree with you. "Cost of Living" wasn't exactly a shining star of an episode, but Trek campiness has to leak in somewhere. "I, Borg" was your typical TNG moralizing story, but I'm ok with it, probably because I'm used to it. It's basically an episode to reverse the usual tendency to dehumanize an enemy.

No offense to Wil Wheaton, but if they had chucked Wesley into the mud bath with Alexander and Lwaxana, then, they could have locked that holodeck suite for ever and ever and ever...... and removed all annoying elements of the series in one swift action.

:)

Hey! It would have been humane, they were happy in there and they had plenty of food and water....

actaully, if they would turned up the heat in that mubath to about 500 degrees, that would have been just fine with me

Or...

"...Sir, one of the holodecks is experiencing problems. It looks like due to a malfunction in the imaging converter and a glitch in the programming matrix that whatever's inside there is going to disintegrate in three, two... Oh, oops, I guess we just lost a few people. Set course for the nearest Starbase?"
