<<The Movellans, in Destiny of the Daleks. >>

I don't remember that episode, are we talking good guy human actors in alien prosthetic? I was talking more about a second set of inhuman monsters that are hunting the Daleks.

Romana II's first story.

The Movellans are Humanoid looking, but, the twist is they are, in fact, Robots. The MOvellans and Daleks are locked in a stalemate war, because both think logically, and the Daleks are looking for Davros, in order to get a solution to the stalemate. The Movellans want the Doctors help for the same reason.

I'd love to see the Boneless flattening the Daleks with the Doctor caught in the middle wondering whether to help or just sit back and watch the carnage.

It occurred to me that Fenton was sort of an anti-Doctor figure. He didn't believe in the good in humanity, had little to no real empathy, had no imagination, and was crotchety without the charm/humor to soften the edge.

Great way to counter the charge that Twelve is an unlikable jerk (not that any fan really thought that, but still)- show 'em what one really looks like.

Why? Was Peter Capaldi too busy?
From what I understand he was filming Mummy at the same time Jenna was filming Flatline.

I guess this is one time when the busy shooting schedule turned out to be a good thing, because it's hard to imagine the episode being quite as fun or memorable without the Doctor-stuck-in-a-mini-TARDIS stuff. Or without Clara having to pretend to be the Doctor in his place.

I wasn't overly impressed with this episode, I got some nasty memories of episodes like Hear Her from it. I didn't hate this episode and it was better than Fear Her, in fact I didn't the Hear her. But either way I rated this with 2 stars but I'd probably give it two and a half. Wasn't a bad episode but not good either. Second least favourite episode this series (with kill the moon being the worst).

As far as the "Missy Arc" goes, according to previously released spoiler pics

She actually interacts with the Doctor in the Cybermen Episode, so, it seems, very soon, we will get alot of movement on that front (not sure if it's ep 11 or 12, but, definitely doesn't appear to be next week

Can anybody identify the piece of music playing during the Doctor's speech when he's finally able to pop out of the tardis?

Other than a few Doctor Who novels, which were novelizations of the episodes, decades ago, I haven't read the books and listened to the audio books. So, I don't know what happen to Romana in those sources - I know that she departed the TARDIS with K-9 in E-Space. I think she would have a hard time getting back into N-Space.

I think, going on memory here, that the Movellians were one of the few species to actually cause significant damage to the Daleks. This resulted in the Daleks reviving their creator in an attempt at saving them. This information is from a Fifth or Sixth Doctor serial.

As for Rani, I have read that the currrent showrunners have no interest in revisiting this character. Probably because this character's credibility was badly damaged in "Time and the Rani". (She was, in my opinion, a great character in "The Mark of the Rani".)

I think the Rani is an okay character, but not a great one. Worth revisiting in a classic context, but not worth dropping the "Last of the Time Lords" angle over.

They should bring back Drax, though.

Long story short: She not only got back (and became BFFs with Leela), but became Lord President of Gallifrey about midway through Seven's post-series life, a title she held through the rest of Seven's and most of Eight's lives, at least up until the beginning of the Great Time War. She regenerated a second time shortly before the GTW, into the more-ruthless form of Juliet Landau (Druslila from Buffy the Vampire Slayer).

Of what happened to her during or after the war, no tale speaks.

Regarding the Dalek fighting less-human looking monsters, there's the Mechanoids from the Hartnell Dalek story "The Chase" (as well as the Colin Baker audio The Juggernaughts). They basically have a more spherical look, as well as a weird way of speaking. Despite only appearing in that one story, they were made into toys a few times, most recently by Character Options.

The Daleks have also fought against their neighbors, the Thals, in Genesis of the Daleks, The Daleks, and Planet of the Daleks (As well as the movie Doctor Who and the Daleks that had them wear a sort of greenish pale makeup). Then apart from a few mentions they were never heard from again, although I'm pretty sure they've popped up in the WHO novels and audios.

I'd love to see a VOY "Scorpion" style episode where the Daleks come up against something even more brutal and evil than they are and the Doctor is forced to help them defeat the greater threat.

Like Asylum Of The Daleks?

They weren't actually fighting anyone in that episode, though. It was the threat of crazy Daleks escaping right? It's been awhile. I want to see them actually fighting monsters and getting slaughtered.
