Really? I noticed that one right away! I honestly couldn't figure out if it was intentional or if I was just imagining it.

What? WHAT? I loved Time Lord Santa with his TARDIS chimney. It's the only way to explain how a bulky man like him fits into it, TBH. But when you learn that each Christmas takes thousands of years for him when to all you people it's just a single night, you start to feel for him. Badly. And it explains why he always looks different!

So when do we get a black Santa? Or a female Santa.

Actually, to continue this silliness, I have actually tried to mix real world stuff to Santa. Him and Mrs. Claus are in a loveless sham marriage, conferences in the North Pole where officers from all the world's Air Forces try to determine safe flying zones for Santa, the Elves having a labour union, Rudolph's red nose being the result of genetic experimentation.
I'm actually on board for about all that. I do wonder, though, why the loveless sham of a marriage? I don't see any influence from it? Would you mind elaborating on how that would manifest in the Portrayal?

I just thought it would be funny. It started off with me thinking about the song "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" and thinking, what if Santa wasn't actually in love with Mrs. Claus and actually did get caught by someone seeing his mother making out with Santa? But then, if they don't love each other, why do they stay together? Primarily I see their marriage as one of convenience, Mrs. Claus doesn't want to leave Santa because being married to Santa is something of a status symbol. Meanwhile Santa doesn't want leave Mrs. Claus since he does own the entire North Pole, and is afraid he'll have to give half of it up. And so they stay together, making each other miserable.

It seems appropriate to post this now ;)

Knowing Tom Riley's reputation as a prankster from the Da Vinci's Demons set, I suspect that this is Capaldi's response to Riley trying to corpse him, by pulling faces or something while his back's to the camera.

I gave it Average. I like Capaldi, he gives me a bit of a Tom Baker vibe. I like Jenna in this ep, too. But this episode wasn't really anything special. Just once I'd like to see the current show runners do a straight up historical piece, with no science fiction elements except the TARDIS.

Eh, the history is barely relevant to Black Orchid and the last one before that was The Highlanders. It just isn't really a part of Doctor Who anymore and hasn't been for the overwhelming majority of its history.

On a Robin Hood story? I felt that way about The Fires of Pompeii, but I can't say I care about Robin Hood. He's made up. There's no such thing.

Maybe they could do a Three Musketeers ep. where the Doctor has a passing resemblance to the Cardinal.
