Bow Wow Wow's front-woman was volcanically hot. I wonder whatever happened to them.
The usual story: people being fired from the band (including the front-woman), break-ups, reformation, another round of break-ups, and another reformation with only one member of the original band left that nobody actually remembers.

I remember when I was in junior high and I heard "I Want Candy," I was of course too intellectually deficient to realize it was about drugs. (As was Martika's "Toy Soldiers" of course)

It's a remake of a song from 1965. Pretty sure its about sexual desire.

I think the drugs rumour came about because the song was gender-flipped for Bow Wow Wow and "Candy" is a weird name for a dude.

I figure in that version "candy" was a euphemism for sex/sexy.

I'm bumping this thread with some more of my varied tastes from the 80's (apologies, if they've already been mentioned).

Ozzy was so awesome, he gets two mentions:

"Tonight"

"Flying High Again"

You know, ABBA actually ruled. Here's Frida:

"I Know There's Something Going On"

"A Good Heart" by Feargal Sharkey (nice little anthem, more on the typical side of the decade's fare, with a connection to both Tom Petty, via Maria McKee, and the Culture Club, via Boy George):

The Jacksons, "Torture":

Yeah, that Frida song was a favorite of mine, but I prefer the original video:

^ Yeah.

Noteworthy with respect to the Frida song, as well as the Peter Gabriel Melt album that I picked a song from, is that Phil Collins really got around. The Frida song in particular would be noticeably less without Collins on drums, IMO.

Speaking of Phil Collins...I don't think anybody posted this classic video:

How a bit of Heavy Metal?

One of the decade's great soundtracks.

Another favorite song from the Glorious 80's...
