Just so there will be as little confusion and duplication as possible, I've started and pinned the actual episode and grading thread. Everyone seems so off the charts excited, that this might help keep things under a bit of control... or at least persist the illusion of it anyway. :D

That will definitely help. And although other popular venues, such as Australia, won't be seeing it for a while, there is the spoiler warning in the thread title.

It's the 23rd in New Zealand, although we've yet to have an announced air date so the 23rd means fuck all at present...

:)

I finally managed to get caught up on Season 5 (thanks to library DVDs) so I'm ready for the premier. Smith still hasn't won me over as the Doctor yet, but I'm really anxious to see River again.

:techman:

I've got to call my cable service, for some reason BBC America has just gone blank for me, the channel (several in fact) are out for me, NOT good, hope I get it back for this, the DVR is set to go. Can't wait :)

Blogtorwho has a spoiler-free review, as well as some pics from the episode. A couple are worth their own caption contests. The pics are in the review itself so beware if you are going forward. The suspense is vexing, greatly vexing.

And yet somehow I think I'll be discussing it here tomorrow evening after I've miraculously watched it. I wonder how that's going to happen :)

The only reason we can't see it ASAP after it's UK airing, is that the ABC (our national Public Broadcaster, who screens Doctor Who) don't want to put it on a Sunday night, because it's going to be up against Masterchef Australia which simply rates its socks off. So instead we have to wait a week and watch it on Saturday night instead.

But since it's the public broadcaster and I already pay them tax dollars to show me Doctor Who anyway (and they don't have ads so no advertiser is missing out on revenue from me not watching their ads) I feel no guilt at all in acquiring it to watch early.

it's a scorching hot day in the uk particularly in the south where Who tends to rate higher so I would't be surprised if overnights aren't amazing given the early start.

Presumably it airs on the same day but not at the same time? It's bucketing down here, btw, in the UK.

That would be great down here in the West Country, it is clouding over, but doubt it will come to much.

And just over an hour till it airs on BBC One.

I would expect to see an average turnout because of the hot weather and 6pm start. Probably 6-7 million but expect the show to probably set a new I player record like last season's opener.

I'll be watching it live on iPlayer, as the analogue signal is now a thing of the past in my area and I have no Freeview. Still. the quality it pretty good!

Got my BBC America working, but I don't have BBC America HD :(

Anyway, can't wait!

It was ok, I did laugh out load at a few points, but being part one of a two parter means it's a bit hard to judge. Loved the bit where River explains to Rory that one day she will meet the Doctor and she will die. Didn't expect the regen to occur so early on and the precredits was a good laugh. Making not one, but two references to "Doctor Who?" seemed a bit excessive though and pandering to the American market.

The Silence were pretty chilling though.
