60s music

I love how Jagger rolls his eyes throughout that performance. :guffaw:

It seems so silly now, the problems the Stones and the Doors had to deal with.

Well, crap, if we're going down that road....

So much great music in the '60s...but I have a Fab blockage to deal with....

Before Blue Öyster Cult, Ringo was your go-to guy when you needed more you-know-what:

Has humankind produced a more beautiful sound than that of John Lennon and Paul McCartney harmonizing?

[yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0CYYOK6YcCM[/yt]

Well before MTV was so much as a gleam in anyone's eye:

Before anyone in America knew who the Beatles were, we were hearing Beatle tunes recorded by other artists.

Credited to Lennon/McCartney, written by Paul:

Credited to Lennon/McCartney, written by John:

^I had to fact-check that one. "World Without Love" came out in the US late Feb. 64; the info I found regarding "Bad to Me" is contradictory--may have been released in the US in Sept. '63 (so was "She Loves You", but nobody this side of the pond had heard of it yet), or sometime in '64.

More #1 singles from famous (some infamous) dates in history....

April 4, 1968:

June 5, 1968

July 20, 1969:

The above was still the #1 single on August 15 and 16, but by August 17 and 18, it had a successor:

My inner eight year old still loves these guys

Can open, worms running amok....

[yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9nE2spOw_o[/yt]

Of course, sometimes a real band got a Saturday morning show (horribly miscast voice actors notwithstanding):

[yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=980NfvGGEgs[/yt]

Or even a trendsetting animated feature film (with better voice actors):

MEANWHILE, IN GOTHAM CITY--HOME OF MILLIONAIRE BRUCE WAYNE AND HIS YOUTHFUL WARD, DICK GRAYSON....

Richard Manuel haunts me...

Another great British Invasion band:
[yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DP9BRwF7ZQM[/yt]

Not their biggest hit, but I always dug this song:

Seems like one of the famous "Three B's" of the Sixties remains unaccounted for....

While on the subject of classic instrumental themes, here are three of the all-time small-screen greats from the era:

Hate to bump it when I was the last poster, but I just learned that these guys hailed from Niles, MI, which is just over the state line from my home town in Indiana:

Before my time, but I love this video and the moves...(And I do like that they have a black girl dancing with the group given the era).

The first time I heard this song was on the film "Kingpin" with Woody Harrelson...

Working on my iTunes playlists, I've taken a liking to these guys--they really packed some oomph into their songs:

Only in the Sixties...go-go dancers in bathtubs during a flute solo:

[yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qL1C1ffKa4[/yt]

In general, Their Satanic Majesties Request isn't terribly easy on the ears...but I've always had a soft spot for this number:

[yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSR5A--rSOs[/yt]

Dolly Parton, back when they tried to make her a Shangri-Las style girl group singer:
[yt]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zq6_el27aw8[/yt]
Surprisingly good.

As a great man will say in about 49 years...let's rock 'n' roll!

[yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uPKcMkH0vw[/yt]

(Not sure if the Led Zep video is decade-authentic, but the song is.)

Kenny Rogers in his psychedelic-rock days, before he went country:

Dig those wild '60s chroma key effects!

To quote the Isley Brothers, "a little bit softer now...."
