#1 - Janeway should've been written consistently. She shouldn't have been a female Kirk or Kirk, she should've been Janeway--a leader from a strong science background, just what a ship exploring the furthest depths of the DQ needed. A captain who thought her way out of problems, not shooting from the hip or pontificating, she gathers all the facts and opinions of those around her and makes her call.
#2 - Torres was a strong character in the beginning, with her snarky comments and sarcasm at the start of the series hiding a loathing for the part of her that was uncontrollable. Of course, all her character development went out the window after Seven arrived and she became Paris' girlfriend.
#3 - Chakotay is something of a stereotype. The character doesn't have much else to him other than he's the "Native American XO", which never really went anywhere or did anything after that.
#4 - "Harry Kim eventually turns into a passably interesting member"? Serious? He's the dullest one onboard. Neelix is annoying, but at least he does stuff that makes you notice and loathe him. Personally I don't get the EMH love, I always found him a very hammy character who was often more for comic relief than anything of real substance (no pun intended), who becomes obsessed with his own ego.
#5 - Totally agree here. The premise had a lot of potential and could've been great, especially with an overarching story arc. Its episodic nature and reliance on the reset button made it dull and predictable, whilst they were never shown to be in any real peril or struggle to survive. It's all just too comfy and easy for them.
#6 - Again, I agree here. Far too much nonsense technobabble, thrown about without much consideration for what actually makes an interesting story. Plus the holodeck episodes became very tired early on then descended in to dross ("Fair Haven", need I say more?). But with a holographic character in the mix it seems that they had to make use of the technology, even going so far as to bring up the non-issue of holographic rights.
