Oh, on that point I absolutely agree. There is so much outcry over the use of Khan or elements of TWOK in STID but I've seen it in many other Trek films, FC and Nemesis being the more obvious examples. STID just used actual names, and one scene, rather than borrowing themes or plot points.Hell, most Trek movies from First Contact onwards have tried to emulate TWOK in someway. Think about that, for the past twenty years, Star Trek movies have been aping a movie made in the early 80s. Hopefully now that STID is essentially a remake of TWOK everyone has got that worked out of their system and we can finally move onto something different for the movies.
I also agree that I hope that TWOK has been worked out and there will be a different story explored in Beyond and, well, beyond that. TWOK is a great fil, but please move past it.
