This episode was freakin' Brilliant!

I had no clue what the episode was about beforehand either, so that was nice too.

I've never really done it with Stargate before (Heck, any series really... Well maybe John & Aeryn), but I'm "Shipping" with the best of them now.

Excellent grade and ever since "Varations" this season has found its feet especially with the last two episodes, which have gotten an Excellent episode.

A wonderful character piece that needed no action or well written dialog and some hearttouching moments that made the canned annoucement truly sink in. Whoever made the call, SCI FI or MGM, shame on you because SG-A still had at least 1 more season left and if they keep dicking round the fans then the franchise will fall with UNIVERSE long before it gets near 5 years.

I rated it Excellent, it was the best episode in some time. Nice to see a character driven episode done so well.

Excellent.

I loved those little moments between the characters, their facial expressions, their desperation, Rodney's anger in the cave etc. That's what Atlantis should be like all the time. *sighs

Surprisingly good. :techman: Unlike a lot of episodes this season, there weren't many moments where I felt like they botched the premise or logic of the situation. Add to that that they finally, finally came up with a fairly new way to handle on of the alien-parasite-of-the-week plots, plus that David Hewlett gave a great performance, and it gets an "Excellent" from me.

I also went with Excellent! When they first mentioned a virus was causing this I was afraid it was going to be another TNG Shades of Grey episode. But they pleasantly surprised me!

It was great to see his sister again. She certainly brings up any episode she's in.

Gave it full marks.
Think David is a really good actor.
I found it hard to watch in places not because it was bad but because it was so well done.
Love the bit with John and Rodney drinking beer Just wish we could have had a bit with Rodney and Zelenka.
I thought i saw Zelenka in the back ground so i am guessing that they had a scene but it ended up on the cutting room floor.

I liked it, I thought it was a good and interesting story! though I cant say it did anything to make me particularly Keller.

Excellent episode with great acting from David Hewlett. Hopefully he'll get some meaty roles now that Atlantis is done, he deserves it.

My one question is what was up with John's panda bear shirt?

While I think it's great that so many of you enjoyed this episode, I actually found it to be painfully predictable (in that way that Atlantis usually is) and also a little counter-productive. I mean, we already knew that Rodney had a thing for Keller, right? So why was it so important that we see him admit that at the end?

While it was nice to see such a character-driven episode -- and things in it like the SFX and music, which were both nicely done -- I can't get over the fact that this episode just seemed to be the show spinning its wheels.

How was it predictable? That McKay wouldnt die? He obviously wasnt going to. did you predict they would extract the parasite by opening up his head with DIY tools?

While I dont care for Keller/McKay, just because "we already knew Rodeny had a thing for her" doesnt mean the show should not bother actually saying it.

And anyway, it was important in the sense that they had to show that that was the reason she didnt want him to go to the shrine. If it worked he'd be dead withn a day, if she kept him there she could at least delude herself into thinking she could still save him.

This was an excellent ep. and both Hewett's did a fantastic job in it, the scene where Rodney woke up Shep in the middle of the night worried about not seeing him at his bedside and wanting to have one last time with friend

. I also liked Woolsey's admission about his own father that added some more depth to his character. You can also see the effect of having Brad Wright on the show, the writing on this one was excellent.

Excellent, David knocked it out of the park. Well, everyone did. McKay can be surprisingly human when he wants to be. :techman:

No, it was predictable in the sense that the situation resolved itself before the team had to get their hands too dirty. Instead of seeing them actually have to operate on Rodney, the parasite just jumps out within minutes of opening him up.

It was all rising action that didn't really amount to anything; one of Atlantis' biggest flaws. Another instance of this would be in the episode where they debate about torturing Cavenaugh. After all the build-up of them deciding what to do (and then eventually deciding to let Ronan have a go at him) Cavenaugh simply faints and renders all the debating we saw earlier moot. There were no ramifications stemming from their decision. Same thing here.

And perhaps you should pay closer attention if you needed the show to explicitly state something that had already been hinted at on-screen numerous times before.

Also, it was pretty evident how far gone Rodney was. It was getting to the point where he didn't even know his name. In a matter of hours, the man that Keller loved wouldn't have even been there at all. If she really loved him, she would have been on-board with Ronon's plan from the get-go.

I mean, if there looked to be even a chance that she could save Rodney on Atlantis, it would have lent a lot more crediblity to her stance. But we knew it was a lost cause; the other characters knew it was lost cause. In that sense, there was no real drama in Keller's opposition to the others. It was just a weak attempt at generating conflict.

I wonder if the Arthur line was ad-libbed.
Just wondered because never seen the 2 charters of John and Rodney laugh like that before so i thought maybe it was David and Joe laughing sorry if that does not make any sense.
