Wow. Best! Season! Ever!
Disclaimer: I haven't read through the entire thread, I'm out of town, I'm not going to read through the entire thread, and this is just first reaction after watching it so I have no Idea what has been said, what has been criticized, or what is dividing the fan base (Which seems to never be happy from what I've seen) this time.
Anyway, with that out of the way, I loved this episode, and I think this was my favorite season of all the Doctor Who I have watched (Again, I hate repeating myself, but the fan base insists; started watching in 2005 with Ecc). Everything just came together, and in the final twenty minutes it was almost like "yeah we've saved the universe again, time to party." I love mysteries, and this season brought it like no other season has done. This arc was just awesome, and how it tied together was almost beautiful.
This episode had everything I love about Doctor Who all rolled into one. The down points, the highlights, the Doctor springing into action, and the mystery is still always there. Watching it, I've got to tell ya, I had fun. I had probably too much fun espcially the whole resetting in time. It was emotional what the Doctor told Amelia, and when it all came together at the wedding and the big blue box appeared, I almost jumped up and down in celebration. I was that emotionally invested in this story, and man that 40-something minutes just flew by. Everything about it was fun, from the showing of timey whimey, to the resetting of time, to the wedding. I was concerned that there would be a big reset at the end, and those ended up being unjustified. Yeah things have to be reset, but the way they went about it was creative, amazing, and, you guessed it, fun.
Matt Smith is awesome as the Doctor. Maybe not as good as Tennent yet (Personally, I want him to show a dark side because one of the things I loved about Eccleston was his multi-dimensionality as a character. He was fun when he needed to be, and serious when he needed to be. Smith leaned more on the fun side) but getting there. Gillian and the guy who played Rory made up a great cast this season, and I am a very happy Doctor Who fan right now. Well done to all involved and thanks for the ride. It was a blast.
