"5 Reasons Kathleen Kennedy Needs To Step Down From Lucasfilm" By John Campea

Would love to know what person people would prefer to see at the helm? Because, given the fact that the original creator was driven to retirement I truly wonder who could have stepped in to satisfy the base.
Kevin Feige is the obvious choice, so long as we could use the "Thomas Riker" transporter setting to duplicate him... but you make a good point, there may not have been a viable alternative.

And, here's a fairly credible hypothesis (but only a hypothesis, mind): this three-year extension, covering the end of the ST/Skywalker era, might wind up being a retirement tour:

As odd as it sounds, I think George Lucas is sold far too short. Here is a man who has been in Hollywood for 40 years, knows Steven Spielberg, Francis Ford Copolla and others, and is very aware of the industry. While I have no doubt there was a lot of personal struggles with the selling of the company I still get the sense that it wasn't an impulsive decision and Lucas made a choice he felt would be good for the future of the company.

Regardless, the person was going to get dumped on.

Suck it, haters!

Good. One bad movie shouldn't lead to a firing. Marvel has had plenty of misses. My only suggestion would be to keep Star Wars for the Holiday season and let Marvel have the summer.

And please, please, please.......Do something in the The Old Republic Timeline. I think the OT era is getting tapped out.

IMHO, people in Hollywood make way too much money for what they do to justify me sympathizing and rooting for them to keep their job after they screwup. One bomb and done as far as I'm concerned. KK was probably already set for life before she even took the gig. She doesn't need anybody to rally for her.

It's not about the money. It's about them losing their job over overblown negativity.

Or, to put it more personally, I am very fortunate that my boss had not fired me for a "one and done" mistake. I certainly would not wish that on another person, no matter the person. They are still people after all.

She's produced the most financially successful films of all time on a consistent basis for her entire career. The only producer with a better record is Spielberg and the two have worked together since Raiders of the Lost Ark. She co-founded and ran Amblin Entertainment until she stepped down to co-run Lucasfilm with Lucas in 2012. She only stepped up the President when he left whne Disney bought it. Her running Lucasfilm was a no brainer for anyone with even a minimal awareness of filmmaking and she's been successful while at Lucasfilm. It's really a shame you're so dismissive of her since she likely helped create many movies that you love. Attacking her for a single movie failing to live up to expectations is like pulling a baseball team's best pitcher because he lost a single game. It's also a weird reason for a fan to leave. I've sat through the entire Holiday Special multiple times. You should avoid that, if Solo doing poorly is enough to ruin Star Wars for you that will make you tear your eyeballs out.

I know the exact point too, it's when Chewie's dad is watching porn in a salon hair dryer and orgasms at being called adorable.

That's a really bizarre statement. Hope you don't mind my saying so.

Wait, does this go on in the Holiday Special? One of these days I'm going to get drunk enough to sit through that.
It’s the one true test of faith for Star Wars fans. It’s why I find the hate for the new movies absurd. These people don’t understand what a bad Star Wars product is, they haven’t seen a bizarre family drama communicated entirely by Wookiees growling at each other, the single worst pun ever written, a coke fueled Carrie Fisher singing while having to hold on to Chewie so she can remain standing and the exact moment Harrison Ford realized he was too good for this. It makes all other Star Wars material better. The Ewok films become decent family adventure films, the prequels become almost watchable and that PS1 fighting game becomes goofy fun.

Watch it sober though, you may make it angry.
