"5 Reasons Kathleen Kennedy Needs To Step Down From Lucasfilm" By John Campea

Would've preferred a white male tbh

Why? Rian Johnson is a white male. And I thought he did a wonderful job of screwing up "The Last Jedi".

It’s why I find the hate for the new movies absurd. These people don’t understand what a bad Star Wars product is, they haven’t seen a bizarre family drama communicated entirely by Wookiees growling at each other, the single worst pun ever written, a coke fueled Carrie Fisher singing while having to hold on to Chewie so she can remain standing and the exact moment Harrison Ford realized he was too good for this. It makes all other Star Wars material better. The Ewok films become decent family adventure films, the prequels become almost watchable and that PS1 fighting game becomes goofy fun.

Which "hate" are you talking about? Those from fans who have been accusing Lucasfilm of screwing up the franchise with "politically correct" characters? Or those fans who found the Sequel Trilogy insulting to women and minorities? Both?

I couldn't care less about the Ewok films. But as far as I'm concerned, the Prequel films are just as good or bad as the Original films.

Yes.

Is that even a thing? Was it made by women or minorities? Or a bunch of white guys getting upset on their behalf? It honestly sounds made up. I’m a woman, many of my friends are women and we’re Star Wars fans. We like Rey and the new characters. I’d like some LGBTQ representation, but this is a good start.

Okay. Good for you. I like the Ewok films because I saw them growing up. Yay me. Who cares?

The Star Wars universe actually needs more guys like Han Solo and Lando.......mmm no, just guys like Han Solo

Let's face it, it's Han that made this thing so popular from the beginning

You keep saying this. I'm curious to know why this is, and what the ST doesn't offer that you feel is present in the PT and OT?

I like Rey and I'm a straight white guy. I have two daughters and they like Rey and look up to her. My wife likes Rey and is glad our daughters are getting in to Star Wars because of it.

I am failing to see the downside here

I love the original trilogy. I didn't really care for the prequel trilogy. I love The Force Awakens and Rogue One. The Last Jedi was okay, I put it above the prequels. I haven't seen Solo yet.

I find it weird that people don't like Rey. My brother and I both thought the single best scene in TFA was Rey Force grabbing the lightsaber and fighting Kylo. I teared up from it when I first saw it in theaters.

Ah well, apparently the real fans disagree with you.

I can actually say that and it's literally true for once!

Say hi to the Russian bots :)

Who found it insulting to women and minorities?

Yes!!!!!

Star Wars Live-Action TV Show Gets Titled The Mandalorian, Plot Revealed

Jon Favreau's Star Wars live-action show is officially titled The Mandalorian and focuses on a new warrior from the same race of bounty hunters as Jango Fett and son Boba Fett. While some hardcore fans were disappointed to learn that Lucasfilm was putting a stop to the standalone Boba Fett movie, they may have had their hopes reignited with the new live-action series. Obviously the show will not have a cameo appearance from Boba Fett since he's at the bottom of the Sarlacc Pit, but having another Mandalorian bounty hunter is pretty awesome.

Curious how this will be pulled off because in TCW series the Mandolorian homeworld had turn into a peaceful people who wanted to leave their warrior days behind them.

Can't wait to see this.

Mandalor wasn't peaceful at the time of Rebels. The ending of TCW (coming at some point) will shed some light on that since it covers the Siege of Mandalor at the very end of the war.

When I had the chance to see Return of the Jedi on my Dad's laserdisc set, and watched it for the first time with my family, I was in complete shock how Boba Fett went out in that film. In the previous film The Empire Strikes Back, he was an enigma -- I thought was a serious threat to anyone he came up against. Bounty Hunters could be thrilling and fun in the SW universe if they're handled in the appropriate way.

She's produced the most financially successful films of all time on a consistent basis for her entire career.
I have nothing against Kennedy personally, but while I mildly enjoyed Rogue One and Solo, I found both TFA/TLJ boring and trite, despite a great cast, and Rebels missed the ball big-time in not exploring the actual OT-era Galactic Civil War.

Mostly, however, I don't see any kind of coherent narrative or storytelling momentum. The ST is rehashing the OT, and the Stories movies and various TV series seem to be doodling around the immediate margins of the Episodes. There seems to be a general, even deliberate, lack of imagination at play... or, should I say, at work.

I agree, it feels more like a reboot then a sequel, with a death star/world, rebels/ resistance, Empire/first order.

And I feel that they didn't plan anything with this trilogy up front.
Maybe only that when you are old you have to die, like Lor San Tekka, Han, Ackbar and Luke. And who knows who will follow in EP9

But I don't hate anyone who made the movies or the movies itself, just really dissapointed

Disney Rehires Kathleen Kennedy After Acclaimed, Successful 'Star Wars' Movies

In a rational world, this would be an expected development. Kennedy has produced four Star Wars movies for Walt Disney which have grossed a total of $4.85 billion worldwide on a combined production budget of around $1b. Generally speaking, when a producer’s first four films under a given contract earn an average of $1.2125b worldwide for the company, that producer gets to keep their job if they so choose.
