Yeah, OK, there is indeed a continuity/editing issue during the fight, visible on this page. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

But the intention is clearly that Kirk's shirt is torn during the fight, by the fighting. It's cut together to indicate that the shirt got torn by the flip that Finnegan just did to Kirk. One wouldn't have been able to tell that Kirk's shirt wasn't being torn in the long shot of the flip with stuntmen on most TVs of the day, anyway. This is just another one of those warts of TOS that stands out much more clearly in HD (ed - not to mention freeze-frame analysis after zillions of viewings).

A "Kirk Roll" (yes, they were mysteriously called 'Kirk Rolls' during The Cage era; legend is that they were possibly named for that greatest of all 20th century thespians, Kirk Cameron).

In the first season there will be several chief engineers popping up in different episodes, though one of them might stick around for two or three episodes. In the second season the helmsman will be promoted to chief engineer, despite not displaying any prior engineering ability.

TOS-R ruined the swish!-swish! in the season two and three opening credits which had been utterly awesome in TOS. No official or fan work has been able to fully reproduce and replicate the beautiful [ed - visual] effect of the original.

I was thinking primarily of the visuals, as I thought the poster I was quoting was*, apologies for not expressing myself more accurately, but the sound effect was also muffed up by TOS-R.

So if it's not a courtroom episode then each episode should feature no less than 20 minutes of the crew debating PHILOSOPHY and ETHICS in the conference room or the captain looking sullen in his ready room. It should have substance! But none of this SJW shit!!!!1!
