Gee, Star Trek is 42 years old. < sigh > How time flies...

And let's see, if I was only 13 when I first started watching Star Trek, that makes me...

middyseafort, I hate your guts. :klingon:

I was -21!

Wow i just realized that i split TOS perfectly. I am currently +21. And drunkl so excuse any typos please.

Happy Birthday Trek! Anyone else think the Great Bird suspected that his cerebral space adventure would end up spawning a strange sombrero-obsessed subculture and a seemingly endless supply of "gay Sulu" jokes in something called a "caption contest"? Nicely done, I say!

;)

I, however, wasn't born until nine years and nine months later. So that makes me...

Now, you really have something to hate my guts for!

Outpost4: Pay no attention to those zygotes! Feel free to hate me, though -- I was only 4 years old when ST premiered. So my 46-year-old ass salutes ST! -- RR

I hate it when TV shows have anniversaries.

They always expect you to buy them expensive presents.... :shifty:

And as I've often stated, I was there watching it...and getting the crap scared right outta me...(heck I was only 5)...

When I was a kid if I was watching TREK alone, I used to leave the room during the closing theme and credits because of the stillscreen shot of Balok.

I didn't want to be in the room with that face, but also didn't want to shut it off in case he got mad.

Yeah, I was old enough to know better, but I did it anyway.

My PARENTS were only 4 years old at the time. I wasn't born for another 21 years. I'm in my 3rd year of college and all of you are making me feel like a little kid.

I watched it before there was a Next Generation, and it was the only Star Trek we had, and we had to walk to school uphill, both ways in the snow with no shoes. And that's the way we liked it.

Oh, goodness yes; I did the same thing. Only instead of leaving the room, I would close my eyes. But there was always the temptation to peek, and I often did and scared myself silly. :rommie:

"The Man Trap" aired on NBC, launching the then-first adult space adventure!

Article on Trekmovie: http://trekmovie.com/2008/09/08/it-was-42-years-ago-today/

Happy 42nd, Star Trek!

Yep, happy birthday Star Trek (and TOS is still my #1 favorite series); but sorry the "launching the then-first adult space adventure!" is in error as both The Twilight Zone and ever The Outer Limits had done 'adult' space adventure stories before Star Trek hit the scene.

Boy, that's picky.

If he's said "the then-first adult space adventure series", he'd be totally correct. Both The Outer Limits and The Twilight Zone were anthologies. Yes, they had adult space adventure stories, but The Outer Limits would often go into sci-fi and horror stories that had nothing to do with space and The Twilight Zone was all over the place, as long as it had a good twist ending and often a moral.

And I think we all know Star Trek is a series.
