40 Trek traditions - keep or ditch?

I want to see Kirk joke about alcoholism while he rips his shirt in the process of nailing a short skirted, go-go booted Starfleet hottie with big hair.

And please, at the end of the flick after thousands suffer and die, could we have a group chuckle on the Bridge?

DeafPoet said: McCoy and Spock banter for instance is a big deal. Things about Vulcan culture (the hand sign, 'Live Long and Prosper') should be in there too.

Things less essential would include the Kirk chop and syrofoam rocks, obviously.

Basically, keep everything that keeps the fans coming back: the characters. Lose all the stuff that was in there for budgetary and '60s camp purposes.
I couldn't agree more.

Where's crashing shuttlecraft?

I guess I identify that more with a VOY tradition. ;)

I also left out stuff like technobabble and time-travel reset buttons that aren't unique to TOS...

Did the shuttle crash in Metamorphosis? I thought it was just brought down to the planet, fairly gently. Didn't they leave in the same shuttlecraft?

I'm pretty sure that they kind of crashed and had to repair the shuttlecraft, and then, yes, left the planet with the same vehicle. It's been a long while, what I remember most clearly is Zefram Cochrane freaking out at the idea the Companion is romantically attracted to him...

But 'shuttlecraft crash' I don't think precludes it being impossible to repair, just that it crashed and they're probably then stranded on a planet... like "Metamorphosis".

So I think it counts.

ps
female vulcans in tos didnt have moe haircuts

Neither did all the men. Stonn and I believe Sarek are examples.

I always hated 24th century Trek (and "Enterprise") for that.

Romulans, Vulcans, Mintakans...

I've said it myself- "Vulcanoids are NOT all relatives of Moe Howard."
