4 Changelings on Earth

Should the writers have written a few more for S4 and S5 about the Changelings on Earth? Seems it was forgotten too quickly after such a row

At that moment, it only confirmed what Starfleet knew; Changelings were on Earth. Fact. They kept doing what they could, but this show never called Star Trek: Let's go to Earth two or three times a season and check up. It was Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Anything related to Changelings on Earth could be written in dialogue. Or an episode where the crew got updated that they suspected a Changeling was part of a envoy bound for Bajor or something. It never needed to go back to Earth.

If there was a story to tell, sure. But what's that story? I feel like the two parter covered all the bases in the initial attack, the power outage and then the story's subversion. The Gowron/Martok story of "Apocalypse Rising" also covers similar ground. I was reading the Marvel Star Trek comics at the time and the Telepath War crossover also did an infiltration story. Maybe if there was a series set on Earth at the time they would have done several episodes with it.

I understand that the Morongo Casino is very popular with shapeshifters of all sorts. At least, judging by their commercials.

I know the writers were running out of time, but I wish more was shown on the homefront during the Final Chapter. We saw Earth attacked, but it was kind of brushed off. That was when they could have reintroduced the changelings.

It didn't feel brushed of to me. I know fans would have enjoyed seeing more of the aftermath of that on Earth, but we were supposed to see the effect it had on people far from Earth, who are now worried about their family and friends still on Earth. The war was always close to the characters on this show, but atleast it was safe for those one the core-worlds. With the attack on Betazed and then Earth, all bets were off and we're dealing with their emotions and fall-out. Again, the show is called Deep Space Nine, not Star Trek: Let's go back to Earth 8 times a season to see what's going on there.

The "four changelings" statement made by Not-O'Brien was really just there to demonstrate the scary power they had. A mere four Dominion members could leave billions of "solids" living in fear.

They considered themselves superior to solids and seemed to think they had the right to do with them as they pleased (apparently by virtue of their 'superiority'). I wonder how they would have reacted to beings such as the Organians, the Q, or the Prophets, if they ever encountered them, being manipulated by them as they manipulated the Solids.

They wouldn't have been happy about that.

I'm not sure the Organians, Q, or Prophets would have given enough of a damn to interfere with the Dominion, at least when the Dominion was no direct threat to Bajor.

^ I'll agree that the Prophets seem to care little beyond Bajor, and the Organians mainly seem interested in keeping bothersome lesser species off their lawn. Even so, we've seen that they sometimes do seem to interfere to achieve one of their goals and I find it hard to believe they'd only do so with humans. We also know Q played his some of his tricks on other species than humans.

And I'd think the loss of those 2700 ships in the wormhole must at least have sparked some curiosity and concern as to what caused that loss, even if they weren't in the position to actively investigate it, the wormhole being closed off for traffic afterwards (which in itself also must have sparked some curiosity).

Personally, I think that Faux-Brien was the only changeling on Earth and told Sisko that there were four just to eff with him.

Quite likely. Or there could have been 500. A changeling isn't a terribly reliable source.

Either scenario works. If there's only one, they know that even if they're taken down, the humans will remain paranoid. If there's more, the notion of "only four" makes them seem more powerful. And of course, the ever-arrogant fake O'Brien might have felt that he didn't need to lie.
