Plecostomus

I can't get any useful information other than BUY NOW from AT&T about this which makes me wonder what they are hiding cost-wise.
Apparently I get a dongle that makes my laptop able to connect to the AT&T network, in effect I use AT&T as my internet provider. The dongle is about $300 give or take and it vaguely hints around about rate plans and charges... following the links from the dongle page takes me to the standard "terms of service" pages which explain charges for cellphones and stuff... but nothing I see tells me how to sign up for this service, what it costs and stuff like that.
I can't for the life of me imagine that this device would allow me to tap into the network without them charging me monthly fees or data usage fees, this is a frigging cellphone company after all.
Maybe I'm just not looking in the right places on the site.
