3D interiors in Blender

Interesting! I like the Defiant style consoles and the fancy curves on the rails. It reminds me a little of some of the concept bridges with recessed sides over the years that never got made.

Thanks for all the comments, I'm glad you're liking the direction of this one and think it matches the intended ship class.

@The Librarian: The original Defiant bridge kinda was like that, but after 'The Search' the platform connecting the doors to the Captain's chair and helm was removed for some reason (probably ease of filming), I really liked that original layout. As for the fancy rails, they're literally larger versions of the Defiant transporter rails, which were likewise only seen in a single episode (well, a two parter, 'Past Tense').

Added more details all over the bridge: the central dome light; more details on the buttresses between the consoles; a properly modeled platform for the Captain's chair; and larger alcoves, with two doors each and space for the dedication plaque/replicator/random bits like what we see on the aft portion of the Defiant bridge.

I debated weather or not to keep the smaller Defiant-style doors instead of something bigger given the larger ship, but I decided to keep them simply due to how unique and different to other doors they are.

I love that you're working with the Defiant-style bridge... it's something that doesn't really get enough love compared to other bridges of its time. Interesting that you decided to go with the silver paneling like in "The Search" rather than the middle row of LCARS they replaced them with later.

Looking nice!

For the akira, always thought in my head that it would have a bridge ssection like the NX bridge with the rear"table" only it would show the shuttle deck and shuttle placements on it with a couple of consoles for flight ops.

@camerlengo biggles: Yeah, those metallic bits on the 'The Search' bridge consoles were pretty unique. I replicated them here mostly so that these consoles don't look so much like all the other consoles I've done before. :p

@valkyrie013: I thought about that, but the problem is that that's just the Defiant layout when you think about it, with the table at the back and all. I wanted to distinguish it more from that. Use the same style, but a completely different arrangement. Also, I don't buy that whole "carrier" thing for the Akira, while in the design phase it did feature more shuttlebay doors and was intended as a carrier, in the end it morphed into a torpedo cruiser, with only rear facing shuttlebay doors (which are even labeled "1" and "2", making it clear they're the only ones). Besides all the times the Akira appeared on screen, we never saw it deploy fighters, not even in 'Message in a Bottle' where it was very prominent.

A ton more work on the little corridors at the back. Added some replicators, keypads, red labels, LCARS panels, etc. The walls themselves there are now finished, though I still have to do the ceiling of course. On the starboard side alcove I've also placed the dedication plaque.

Here's also the beginnings of the helm console, which as I'd stated before is going to be a classic two person station. I've taken some inspiration from the Defiant's helm, as well as the DS9 runabout cockpit consoles, and the USS Righteous helm from 'Star Trek: Borg'. I'll be adding some more LCARS panels on the central column, red labels all around, more details on the light, etc. Still not entirely sold on it so we'll see.

You know I’m loving this bridge design. I’m assuming the door on the starboard side near the dedication plaque is the captains ready room, I think it’s a nice location right near the rear of the bridge itself. It is a great evolution to the Defiant bridge. Patiently waiting for the completed renders!

You know, @Rekkert, if you're really going to capture that "The Search" Defiant bridge aesthetic, you need to make sure each station has its own Red Alert flasher on the console just like the helm did. ;)

@Rory1707: Correct, I'm making that door the way to the ready room, while the opposite one leads to the conference room. The two aft doors are turbolifts.

@camerlengo biggles: Hahaha, I was totally gonna include those at first, but it's so pointless with the large neon light right above it. I think removing those was a good call on the Defiant, unlike most other changes after 'The Search'.

@gmd3d: Thank you very much!

@valkyrie013: That's a great looking shuttlebay! I like the idea of the front being a cargo area, I'll make sure to do it that way on the MSD! :)

More details all around. The helm got another pass done with some small LCARS panels added at the center (inspired by the controls on the Type-18 shuttlepod), I might change these once I add the actual LCARS and see how they look, I'm not totally sold on them. I've also moved the helm to a more standard location at the center of the room, before I had it too much forward and it made visibility of the viewscreen difficult.

I've also finished detailing the edges of the main platform, following the same style as on the Captain's. Plus more details on the perimeter consoles keyboard areas, including padded wrist rests, which I've also added on the helm. The floor also got some attention, with the basic shape of the red striping connecting to the doors now added, plus the two tone blue and beige pattern started. Keep in mind all these colors are temporary as I'll have to tweak them once the final lighting is in place.

I like the blue trim on the consoles. Those metal things on the top of the chairs might cause a callus on Riker's palm as he put one foot on the middle console, forcing him to brace himself, if he served aboard.
