3D interiors in Blender

@valkyrie013: Maybe for when I do one as a personal project I'll be able to include one of those in. ;)

@ashefivekay: lol, I've been told it's an old relic, and there's definitely no need to look into it or call security.

@The Librarian: Same haha, we barely saw them on the Ent-E, but I quite like their design.

And here are the finished renders of the sickbay!

Been extremely busy these past few weeks with the non-Trek, original-universe interior work I've been teasing for months. Still nothing I can show publicly or really discuss, all I'll say is that some 5 interiors are nearly completely designed at this point, and talks are now going on with set builders; so you can imagine the back and forth's been quite involved with my client in this crucial moment. I can't wait to show and talk at lengths about this project. =)

As far as Trek goes, I've been having a blast watching Lower Decks, and from time to time I tinker with the Cerritos bridge. Not planning on committing to finishing this or anything, like I'm mentioned above I have my hands full already (unless someone commissions it, of course), but I thought I'd share here as well:

Also, this week the payment issue with the USS Ranger commission got resolved, so here are all the final images of that bridge design:

Some more progress on the Lafayette bridge commission. After a lot of tests and different designs we've settled on a look for the aft area, closely mirroring the look of the standard TNG corridors, though not an exact copy of them. The middle section was modeled after the MSD console from TNG's engineering, and though this area might still get some tweaks, it's now the approved design.

Moving onto the bridge itself, I've modified the console buttresses to include their original decorative holes, as seen on the Ent-A/Excelsior and Saratoga/Prometheus from DS9 bridges. While I'm not a fan of these particular shapes (they're so random they trigger my OCD), it is their canon design which my client requested. Also as you can see I'm starting to add back the ceiling structure, hence why everything's darker, I have yet to add the main lights.

Still mostly working on non-Trek stuff lately, though among several commissions I've also been bringing up to date this old project of mine...

Remember back in 2017 when I nearly had this finished but then lost the data, and a ton of progress (mostly on the LCARS) was gone? Well, now I'm slowly getting it all together again, plus cleaning up the old modeling, applying newer materials and lights, etc. I doubt I'll be finishing it soon or anything like that (a lot of commissions to get through beforehand!), so I was hesitant to bring it up here, but anyway, at least I can show you all something. :p

I tried searching the thread and didn't come up with anything... @Rekkert, did you ever do a project that speculated what a nice, spacious Enterprise-C bridge would have looked like? I've got it in my headcanon at this point that what we see in "Yesterday's Enterprise" is just the emergency bridge, because I just can't accept that this "bridge of the week" would be the rather dull step between the Enterprise-B (which granted, we hadn't seen at the time) and the Enterprise-D. :p

But I'm also getting a feeling of deja vu, like we've already had this discussion before.

ETA: Yep, we did, almost three years ago ( ) when you were working on the Enterprise-C bridge previously. Back on page 14.

@The Librarian: Haha, IMO it works there as an emergency console, though it does look rather ugly as it doesn't fit in with the more TNG looking designs directly behind it.

@TrekMD: Glad you think so!

@cardinal biggles: I did a few tests for what a bigger bridge in the same style would look like, yes; but only in 2D. Still, what we see on the episode is most definitely the main bridge. Something I noticed fairly recently is that you can see the dedication plaque and a barely readable door labeled as '01' at the beginning of the episode.

And yes haha, as I mentioned at the bottom of the last post, this is that same Enterprise-C bridge model from back then, a ton of the discussions back then are still very much relevant here. :)

Looking at the bridge layout and how it was used during the episode, as well as layouts from the unknown era of Trek, I've had a few thoughts about the specific function on the controls.

The three aft stations (probably a mixture of engineering, science and auxiliary systems) and the Captain's chair are all fairly obvious, but perhaps the two closest to the CO are tactical on the portside (since Yar sat there when the ship was returning back to the past) whilst the starboard console is for the ship's XO (similar to the station Worf manned on the Hathaway) and maybe covers communications or mission ops or is configurable for whatever is needed. In the image @Rekkert has provided we see a non-com slumped over it and since the XO is dead then they may have taken over to cover essential controls. This would leave the console nearest the viewscreen to be for helm and ops, seeing as we never see the two crewmen Castillo ordered to these posts sitting either beside Yar or taking one of the aft stations.

Just a random idea that popped into my head.

@Bry_Sinclair: Yeah, that's a good point, we know the console next to Yar ended up empty, and no one manned the other visible consoles as well. It's a good idea, to have it be the XO.

@The Green Monster: Thanks, glad you think so!

Oh boy, it's been a very busy week (weeks? whatever). Besides the commissions here and the non-Trek stuff I was already doing, I've been approached to work as a 3D modeler on a commercial game project (nothing Trek related, but it's sci-fi); so I have my hands full.

Not that I'm complaining, it seems I have job as a modeler for a while, which was always a worry of mine; plus living with my partner and being in a healthier environment I'm able to cope with more projects than before, so in a sense good thing this happened now.

So, back to Trek interiors, that's what on the thread title, right? :p

First off are a couple of commissions I've actually finished a while back for @Rusty0918. These are both tweaks to previous commissions of his. The USS Lexington-B bridge got modified, replacing the Hathaway-style command section with a standard Captain's chair at the center, plus adding front-facing consoles at the sides of the bridge. See all the renders here.

Second is the auxiliary bridge for the Lex-B, which is a modification/replacement of his USS Indefatigable bridge. The colors, doors, and conn/ops consoles were replaced with the same styles as used on the main bridge of the Lex-B. See all the renders here.

Finally, I've finished a commission for the PBeM RPG, Star Trek: Kumari: the bridge of the titular Excelsior-Class USS Kumari. The game is set in the 2370's, so the LCARS and colors reflect that. The bridge has a new floor pattern, with spaced out steps descending into a pit for the helm console; a pool table at the back, with a star chart and a ship status display graphic; and the perimeter stations next to the viewscreen were modified to include an extruded side panel, giving them an 'L' shape.
