3D interiors in Blender

For a second there, I was like "Why are there dots connecting those two button panels on the table?" before I realized they're a reflection of the lights.

Glad you all liked my take on the Observation Lounge! Here's another canon TNG room, plus a few more commissions from the last month. These are again stuff that are mostly started and ended fairly quickly, so no point posting WIP shots and the like.

USS Orion NCC-79134 Bridge: A modification on previous late-TNG era Galaxy-Class bridges, with added forward looking side consoles, red Voyager-style doors, and grated lighting on the alcoves, among other smaller changes. See more renders here.

USS Endeavour NCC-82801 bridge, 2381 version: a commission for @Rory1707, being a further modification of his previous 2379 version of the same bridge. The changes between the two are focused on the center of the bridge, with the tactical arch and ramps replaced by two standalone tactical consoles and a series of steps. You can see both versions of the bridge here.

And finally, the personal project: the alternate future Enterprise-D bridge from 'All Good Things'. This one I actually started months ago, after finishing the second Parallels bridge, as several elements are shared between them. However due to a lack of time it just sit there halfway done and I eventually forgot I even started it, until this week that is hahaha.

The bits brought over from Parallels were modified somewhat, particularly the light "columns" which had a new pattern over the lights and a slightly rearranged black tape "border", slightly closer to the edges than before.

I also changed the aft consoles to showcase how they had proper monitors (well, CRT panels) in them now, with the characteristic blue hue tinting the LCARS. I usually don't display CRTs this way on my models, but as this was something that was changed specifically for this version of the bridge (and the Generations one, it was actually done in advance for the movie), I thought it was worth showcasing it somewhat. You'll also notice the grey bits of material added over some of the LCARS at the back, the first time this was done on a Trek set. I'll become a staple of LCARS designs by the time of Voyager and First Contact. I did tweak the LCARS a bit to showcase the upgraded three nacelle exterior, even if this wasn't done in the actual episode. Once again, my goal with these isn't a perfect reproduction of the sets, but rather of how it would've "really" looked like. Yes, I know this is subjective, so whatever, sue me haha.

Besides a brief appearance in the documentary "Journey's End", filmed alongside the episode, we never actually see this bridge under standard lighting, so I kept the lights just as they were on the standard season 7 set (except for those fully on orange alert indicators).

Everytime you go back and revisit the TNG bridge, it is harder and harder to tell that it's not a real set. The only thing that caught my eye, the backrests on the command chairs, they look like they are missing stitching or something? But thats me zooming in really closely to look at all the detail you have in the scene :D

You've built the command platform, you've added the CRT displays to the aft stations, you've built the side platforms for the Orion bridge... does this mean you're going to finally put it all together one day and crank out the Generations bridge? :p

Thanks again for this beautiful update to the USS Endeavour bridge. I’m so happy with the end results. Also great job on the Alternate USS Enterprise-D bridge. I agree with @Captain Serek statement about the Future Imperfect and Yesterday’s Enterprise variants. I look forward to seeing your renders for those bridges.

The two Galaxy-class bridges are excellent. As for the USS Endeavor, honestly, I prefer the earlier version. In the later version, the two chairs next to the Captain's chair are harder to get out of because their respective consoles have been moved from the sides to the front of each chair, and the console with the seat behind the Captain's chair has been converted into two standing consoles. Plus a bunch of steps were added, and as people probably already know, I like my bridges wheelchair accessible.

I do appreciate your feed back on the Endeavour bridge @Matthew Raymond and I still like the original bridge @Rekkert designed, but I wanted a different look for the direction my story is headed. The access to the command chairs are no different than those of the Enterprise-E except for their designs, it was still possible for Riker and Troi to perform their duties and to move about the bridge with no difficulty. My idea for the two Tactical stations was if one was damaged or destroyed in battle, you had a back up station. Plus I’m sure by the 24th century wheelchair accessibility will be obsolete because of medical advancement or there will most likely be hover chairs in use for the physically impaired.

@Burning Hearts of Qo'nOs: Thanks! Mmm, no I never did a room like that. I guess the main shape would basically be the standard window set from TNG flipped upside down, but it would necessitate tweaks to the layout. You piqued my interest, I'll see if I can do something like that in the future for a personal project!

@batboy853: Yeah those chairs are showing their age... I modeled them for Stage 9 almost 4 years ago. I know they're not up to par, but as with everything it's about finding the time. Plus the thought of having to model more chairs is... ugh... I'll redo them eventually.

@cardinal biggles: The side platforms used on Orion are just brought over from other models, and are not the ones used in Generations, so that's one whole area of the bridge I'd have to do from scratch. I do plan on doing it eventually, but (and you might see a pattern here) it's just a matter of finding the free time and motivation to do it (or someone commissioning it, of course :P).

@Rusty0918: I haven't been posting on any forums lately, and I did update my thread over there just at the same time I updated this one. As I've been working on more and more commissions which are small and from people who contact me via my website rather than through the forums, it's been hard to find a reason to post WIPs, as they'd be too scattershot (I'm doing 7 commissions at the same time, for example), and most of the time I wouldn't be able to take in the feedback you guys give me anyway.

@Rory1707: Always a pleasure mate, and thanks!

Thanks for the comments @Tomalak, @Lt. Washburn, @CaptainSerek, @Ryan Thomas Riddle, @Jedman67 and @Matthew Raymond! Glad you're all liking these!

Finished another quick commission, and it's an unseen bridge for a canon starship: the Nebula-Class USS Bonchune NCC-70915. The client wanted it to be a modified version of the Lafayette bridge but with most of the colors swapped for those of the Potemkin and some other tweaks, such as the new MSD at the back. Hope you like it!
