30 Rock

Just started Season 2. The therapy session with Jack and Tracy was awesome.

One thing I've noticed is 30 Rock seems to be heavily relying on guest characters. From Seinfeld, to Schimmer, to Arnett, it's almost as if they sometimes forget they have a regular cast. Not that that's a bad thing, but how about developing Frank, or Jonathon, or Cierie.

I also saw the episode with Carrie Fisher. I did not recognize her at all and the "You're my only hope" line went past my head until the actual credits. Then I was like "ohhh."

The constant stream of celebrity guest-stars are a desperate attempt to stave off cancellation, I'm pretty sure. The show always did poorly in the ratings the first two years.

I just finished the second season of 30 Rock. Man I love this show but I think I liked the first season more than the second. Both were outstandingly funny though but there was something fresh and raw about Season 1. Still, I really liked some episodes in season 2, like the one with Carrie Fisher ("Dynomite") and MILF Island. Everyone loves talking about Tina Fay and Alec Baldwin, but the best actor on the show is Jack McBrayer. Man that guy is funny. Looking forward to seeing how Season 3 plays out. I can't believe Don Geiss has been in a Coma for almost a year. Hopefully some of those season 2 stories make a return to this season and I would love to see these characters back:

Jacks Mom
Floyd
Dr. Spaceman (Love this character)
Devon Banks (Even though I think Arnett is spending a lot of quality family time these days)
Liz's parents

It's a pity they rely so heavily on special guest stars because they have such a great cast already.

Devon Banks is in the first few episodes but I don't think the rest of them are. Ah, I miss Spaceman!

It's a great show and the Night Court thing was brilliant.

That being said, when it started I had to force myself to watch it. It was like, I wanted so much to like this because in theory it had good things going for it, but it was so inconsistent and the Rachel Dratch over the top sketch level characters were a dealbreaker. So glad she's gone - and I don't mind her on SNL.

Just going through some of my subscribed threads and this was at the bottom. What does everyone think of the current season. I think this show really found itself after the first of the year. The episodes have been funny, and the last few have been great. Liking the relationship between Liz and Drew, and the stuff with the St. Patricks Day Parade last week was hilarious.

When Liz tried to get out of Jury Duty saying she had her 'Princess Leia' costume ready, I envisioned Tina Fey in the Jabba Bikini, but it was the bun hairdo and long white robe instead!

30 Rock remains one of my all time favorite shows, I've never seen a dip in the quality. If anything it's gotten better! I don't recall if they always did this, but this season they're following the Seinfeld formula where the different characters' separate stories unexpectedly collide in the ending with hilarious result. I like it!

One thing I like is that they're being a little more subtle about it than Seinfeld used to be. I think it's been brilliant this year.

It's still funny but they've gone to the well one too many times with the Liz baby crazy/dating episodes. I wish we'd get more of TGS and the extended cast (the last episode was a good start).

Yeah I do wish they actually showed the show and its production rather than just their personal lives. God forbid actually show a sketch or two.

I doubt you'll ever see much of the show...the same way we never saw much of the Ted Baxter news report on Mary Tyler Moore's show.

The show isn't about The Girly Show...it's about what goes on with the people who create the show.

Tonight's episode was one of the funniest episodes I've ever seen on this show and probably the best of the season. Loved how we got to see how Jack, Tracy, and Kenneth got to see the world (Kenneth with the puppets :guffaw:) and then that ending was absolutely hilarity. It seemed predictable, but it worked so well because it was damn funny.

Liz shouting, "He's gonna Jack!!!" was priceless...and my God, the sex line commercial...I think I've actually seen that one for real (or something perilously close to it) on late night local TV. I have yet to watch an episode of 30 Rock that doesn't have me laughing uncontrollably at least a few times. I'd have never thought it would work when it first came on, but man, this show has really gelled. The interactions between Liz/Jack, Jack/Kenneth and Kenneth/Tracy are just perfect.
