Okay, Robau gives the year as 2233.4 when asked, so that makes Kirk 29 during the main part of the film.

It doesn't seem like a particularly efficient dating system. Is it the fourth day of 2233? The fourth month?
Granted, it is still more efficient than a random grouping of numbers... still seems a bit odd, though.

They probably just kept two digits to the right of the decimal so that it would still sound something like the old stardates.
They also had a Cardassian reference with one of the drinks. Meaning they must have been known in the TOS era.
