25 Years ago today..

My favourite episode of TNG. I know a lot of people go for "Best of Both Worlds" but this has always been the one for me. I recently got the TNG Bluray boxset and this was the first episode I watched. I remember watching it on BBC2 when it first aired in the UK and I loved it straight away. There are so many highlights in this episode ranging from the brilliant redesign of the Enterprise bridge, Patrick Stewart and Jonathan Frakes changes to their characters, Whoopi Goldberg's star turn as Guinan, the doomed romance between Tasha and Castillo and the greatest of them all "History will always remember the name Enterprise".

Incredible.

It was the first TNG episode I had seen because I had wondered if it would mention the final destinies of the TOS crew. It didn't do that, and it was still an awesome episode and I became an INSTANT TNG fan from that point on.

TNGs best episode. The story everyone was expecting Generations to be. And of course the major inspiration for ST09

Yesterday's Enterprise kicks off a three-episode run that probably measures with the best three-episode runs in the history of the franchise.

Yesterday's Enterprise, The Offspring and Sins of the Father really kicked The Next Generation into high gear, after what was already a strong start to the third season. That's the Piller era reaching its stride, about half a season in.

This one certainly is a classic. It also makes me feel a little old. Hard to believe it's been 25 friggin' years.

Marking a major turning point for the series. The beginning of the world taking Star Trek seriously again, this period of TNG

they could've done it again for GEN though - like TMP did Changeling/Doomsday/Immunity, TVH did TIY/Assignment Earth, TFF did Way to Eden

Agree. :beer::beer:
This should have been Generations. :sigh:

Berman said that if he'd known they'd be making TNG movies (that wasn't a consideration at the time) he'd have save this story for the first TNG movie.

I don't know if there is enough story to make a movie out of it. One would think if there was, they would have made a two parter out of it.

Absolutely agree. :vulcan: They could have, they should have, but instead they created an inferior film story than "Yesterday's Enterprise". :klingon: IMHO.
