24/Lost; will be missed

I have been watching these two shows ever since they came on. And now, here we are...both shows are going to be ending very soon. I know some of you gave up on both, or one perhaps, along the way, but I stuck with both..and I have to say? I'm going to miss them.

It has been fun trying to figure out what will happen next on LOST. And somehow, someway, I think its all going to make sense which was a worry three years back. The bowling league I am in? We talk about LOST with each other, and the other team, as we're bowling. Trying to guess what will happen...in fact, nearly twenty of us are getting together at my house. I am setting up my projector and setting up my screen so we can watch it like a movie. We will be BBQing as well..kids will be in the other room so we can watch without distraction...and then it will be over.

Same thing for 24. Jack's adventured have been, to say the least, hair raising. Some seasons have been better than others. I think the past two seasons have been pretty good, with this season, IMO, on the right path. I mean, next weeks showdown between Jack and Charles Logan will be great. I still hope Tony Almeda will show up one last time, but I read recently that Michael Madsen's character was written in to replace Tony when Carlos Bernard wasn't available to play tony...

In any event, it will be sad, for me, when these two shows do not return next year. Its been fun rewatching 24 (we have re-watched seasons 1-4 and just started 5). Watching Jack evolve. Moaning at the use of yet another "CTU insider" and all the cliches was part of the fun too.

So...this post is tip of the hat to these two shows that were each trail blazers. Jack Bauer, Tony Almeda, Chloe, Bill Buchanon, Michelle, President Palmer, Logan, Sherry, Kim, Chase, even Edgar!!!...you all did good..

As well as Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Sayid, Locke, Hugo, Charlie, Ben, Jen, Sun, Boone, Michael, Ricard, Clair, the monster, and the other "others"....its been a ride!!!!

I know Mistral; its early. But I just have faith that JJABRAMS, who I think owes his career to LOST, is going to make sure it ends correctly. He doesn't want that TWIN PEAKS tag to be applied to lost, as happened to XFILES.

Lost, I'm not bothered about; I was completely addicted to the first season, but for some reason once it finished my mind flicked a switch and went "You know, I really don't care what happens to any of these people," and I haven't watched an episode since.

24, though... I'm really going to miss it, because it's now actually the only US show I watch, and for all its flaws nothing that I've seen on TV has matched it for sheer tension and excitement and HOLY SHIT! They didn't just do that, did they? OH MY GOD, THEY DID! plot twists. Frequently being ridiculous doesn't stop it being ridiculously entertaining.

Nothing lasts forever, and it was inevitable that one by one the shows I really loved would leave the screen... but why isn't anything I like the look of replacing them? There hasn't been anything that I started watching and stuck with since BSG. Six years ago.

Lost, as I said earlier, had its issues...but the past three seasons have turned it around, IMO, and I like how its concluding...

I don't know what the hell I'm gonna watch next season. Just about every single hourlong drama I watch is ending or probably being canceled! LOST. 24. Chuck. Heroes. Flashforward. V. The only one I know coming back is the one I care the least about, Fringe. At least all the sitcoms will being going on...

I haven't seen more than an episode or two of Lost. If the word of mouth after the ending is good, I'll give it another chance on DVD. If it isn't, no loss.

I will miss 24, but I admit it hasn't been good in a while. So, while it's sad to see it go, it's time to see it go.

Like you, Rob, I've watched both shows start to finish. And they are pretty much the only hour-long dramas left that I watch (until Caprica comes back, though I'm not really loving that). TV Land will be pretty desolate after this month.

I'll miss Lost. They're going out on a high note. 24, however, has outworn its welcome by a few seasons. Good riddance.

I will very much miss both shows. They have provided me with so much entertainment in the last few years. This reminds me of when Friends was ending, it just felt like a part of my life was disappearing. That was also the year I graduated high school. This year, I am graduating with my Master's degree. I can't wait to find out what my next favorite shows will be.

Im hoping HAWAII FIVE 0 will be my new 'crime drama' show in place of 24 next year...Star Trek XI writers are producing..being written by FRINGE dudes...exec produced by NCSI dudes...that is pretty good pedigree...

^This.

I have LOVED "LOST" from start to finish, even during its uneven patches. I love following the clues, seeing the characters grow and change, and I love trying to follow the absurdly complex plot lines.

I used to love "24," too; however, it just got so ridiculous and so over the top that, by the end, it just became a parody of itself. And this season committed the worst sin a show like 24 could ever commit--it bored me. If hubby weren't such a completist, I think I would have dropped out by now. I won't miss it; it's really, really time it went.

My Lost enthusiasm has been slightly reduced by the most recent episode, but I'm still sure it'll end with an awesome bang.

As for 24, it hasn't been consistently watchable since the end of season 5, so it's no surprise that it's finally ending now. S6 was terrible, S7 was alright, and S8 was AWFUL until very recently, so 24 is really no major loss.

I will also miss them both. 24 had a rough start this season, but I've loved the last few episodes. Charles Logan is great, and I wish I could have at least one more whole season of Bauer vs. Logan. :(
