24 likely to end this season (Official)

Re: 24 likely to end this season

Hey, those nonstop season premieres for Day Two and Three were kind of cool. A shame they stopped doing that.

Re: 24 likely to end this season

Have to admit,24 is becoming like every other tv show,it start to get a be boring, ratings fall and the storylines are rubbish and they recycled stories from the earlier seasons.

Re: 24 likely to end this season

24 had to compete with repeats for lead ins and to go up against The Winter Games & DWTS debut last night and its ratings are still above 8 million/2.8 demo. FOX must ask what other show could they do that with and produce similar numbers.

A certain SCIFI show we all know and love could be accused of that...

But does that balance out the cost of production?

(I don't know if it does or not, it's a genuine query!)

Re: 24 likely to end this season

FOX owns 24 fully if am right so the global network audience must pull in serious $$$ and is probably why they want to focus on a movie project. I just feel that a show like 24 should of known its final season in advance to produce one hell of a story...However season 8 is showing the show may not be able to produce another season.

Season 7 was soooo good probably should of ended it there but with a changed ending that killed Jack off.

The way this season is going is hardly indicative of the quality left in the show. Season 6 was pretty universaly disliked and 24 still got a Season 7. This season has been very weak, but I'd till like to get at least one more season out of this series so the show-runners could better end it/set-up the movie.

Re: 24 likely to end this season

NBC won't pick it up, some members in production have started to pack up, the crew has been told by Fox this is the final season. I have talked to some people I know in production at Fox this week and thats what I was told. There maybe a movie or 2, but it's still undecided.

Re: 24 likely to end this season

All good things must come to an end. It's the right time.

Looking forward to the movie though.

I agree it would be disgraceful if Heroes is still on the air while 24 is not.

Re: 24 likely to end this season

I wonder what episode they're filming right now and if its possible to have more a 'series finale' feel to the season at this point.

Re: 24 likely to end this season

^ That was the plan, to have the last two hours be more of a finale feel... even with a movie planned.

Re: 24 likely to end this season

Well, this sucks.

Though this show has been on for nine years (eight seasons) it'll be sad to see it go, even given how bad this season has been.

I think another season would've been nice to close up the series and send it into movies, but such as it is. I'll really miss the running commentary threads. :(

Re: 24 likely to end this season

Will they move Human Target to Mondays? How about a Human Target and Fringe double feature?

Re: 24 likely to end this season

All I have to say about this is that it's about time. In my opinion, this show wasn't meant to go on forever no matter what others may think. 24 is not like Law and Order or CSI because this show is heavily serialized. Even some events that occur as far as Season 1 have lingering consequences on characters such as Jack who feels the pain of his wife's death like it was yesterday.

Re: 24 likely to end this season

would be a bad year for FOX, if they do axe Human Target.

Dolls House, Til Death, Brothers & now 24 have all been axed.

I guess Glee is the bright spot for them, that and finding a 3rd show for Gordon Ramsay.
