24: Day 8 Begins production today

More casting news:

Hollywood Reporter

Mykelti Williamson is joining Fox's "24" as a regular.

On the 20th/Imagine series' upcoming eighth season set in New York, he will play Brian Hastings, the MBA-type head of CTU New York who has a razor-sharp intellect.

Also joining the cast next season: APA client Doug Hutchison ("The Burrowers," "Punisher: War Zone"), in a recurring role as Davros, a dangerous European terrorist.

Somebody on the TV Guide thread said it best...Prinze's co-star in Freddie, Brian Austin Green would have been a better choice. BAG proved in The Sarah Connor Chronicles that he could play a legit, tormented, badass.

Maybe give Freddie a chance to prove he can do the same? Before TSCC, I'm not sure anyone would have thought Brian Austin Green had the acting chops. I hope Freddie surprises everyone and does a great job.

I agree that Tony is too far gone to ever be set up as a replacement for Jack again. It's a shame...I thought what they did with him this season was interesting, but they definitely took the character to the point of no return, which is unfortunate in the long run. :(

I like Freddie. I'll definitely give him a chance.

Tony could have worked as the star. He handled the mission scenes while Jack was at the FBI very well. It was cool seeing him in the field by himself.
Whoa, that's pretty crazy. I will definitely give him a chance, maybe he can change his imagine again into a badass?

The biggest problem with Freddie is his image. His best work is a movie no one saw (The House of Yes), and back when he was getting lead roles in movies, he was just pumping out the same generic, bland teeny bopper crap over and over again despite his age. His movies were like unsuccessful versions of the Matthew McConaughey or Kate Hudson assembly line movies.

Mykelti Williamson is good value. Liked him a lot in the too-short-lived Boomtown series.

I'm willing to give Freddie a chance. I never would have believed that Rick Schroder would convince as the successor to David Caruso & Jimmy Smits in NYPD Blue, but he was great there as in 24. So maybe Mr SMG will surprise us too.

They should get SMG to appear as Buffy. Can you imagine Jack with a stake, screaming about killing a vampire?
