24: Day 8 Begins production today

I like the idea of a southern governor who kills the middle eastern guy and tries to separate the country because he loves it so much. The governor of Texas would work great.

I would like the bad guys to be American domestic terrorists... or European... or Indian. Something different. I recall at one point they were jokingly talking about doing Quebecois terrorists... let's do it!!!

You'd think there'd already be a bunch of uprisings and militia movements with all the crap that's happened to the USA over the years and how ineffective the government was at stopping the threats, instead of people shopping and playing tennis a few hours after a nuke goes off in LA.

In season eight, we're going to find out that Larry Moss is alive because Tony had "recruited" him to join Team Methos.

Yeah, I could totally understand the people rising up against the government in 24. Over the course of seven seasons, it's been revealed that there are literally thousands of individuals at the highest and lowest levels of government, law enforcement, and the corporate sector who will sell out their country at the drop of a hat. Who could possibly tolerate that? At the very least, the pisspoor job the government does at stopping terrorists attacks would lead to much tougher and more restrictive security measures. I seriously doubt the majority of the American people would care if CTU tortures a couple of terrorists when they face regular terrorist attacks.

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting a rumor that Freddie Prinze, Jr. is joining the cast as an ex-marine who wants to follow in Jack Bauer's footsteps.

So Freddie Prinze, Jr. on 24... not as a computer nerd or a political jackass... but as a badass agent?

Interesting--sounds like some cool casting! 24 was fun this past season--not as groundbreaking or quite as thrilling as it once was, but really solid. I'll definitely be tuning in for season eight--but unless season eight totally reinvents the wheel for 24, it might be good to end it there.

I thought this past season was the third best over all..behind seasons one and two...

This just in.... New Cast Members, including a surprising semi-famous person:

"A day after producers locked in some new "24" additions, including Jennifer Westfeldt and John Boyd, HR reports that Freddie Prinze Jr. is joining the cast of Fox's planned Day 8 as a regular. Nazneen Contractor will also join the series as Kapoor's daughter. Freddie Prinze Jr. is playing Davis Cole, a recently returned Marine who runs CTU Field Ops and wants to follow in Jack Bauer's (Kiefer Sutherland) footsteps."

Somebody on the TV Guide thread said it best...Prinze's co-star in Freddie, Brian Austin Green would have been a better choice. BAG proved in The Sarah Connor Chronicles that he could play a legit, tormented, badass.

I thought Rick Schroder did a really good job the season he was in and could have become a bigger role on the series. And Jack's 2nd in command in season 3 was also great right up until Jack cut his hand off in the last episode.

And of course, Curtis would have been the perfect replacement for Jack, except the writers ran out of ideas one day and killed him off for no reason.

James Badge Dale (Jack's number two from the third season) doesn't want to return to the series, apparently. A shame, since they even said at the end of season three that they would be able to reattach his hand no problem. I suppose they deflated the drama in order to facilitate his return the following season, but for some reason that didn't happen. Oh well.

I thought Shroeder's character was blinded at the end of season six?

Since a bomb blew up in his face, Rick Schroder's character is going to come back at the end of the season wearing an eyepatch and tell Jack about a team that's being put together... with Fox Mulder, Frank Black, Gregory House, Walter Bishop, Sarah Connor, Echo, Christopher Chance and Lincoln Burrows.

I like Renee as Jack's replacement but of course, Tony would make the most sense. I think that the producers and writers have done too much damage for that to happen.

I really hope they don't go down the 'terrorists from the Middle East' road again.
We had the "UNNAMED COUNTRIES" in season 2, Magical Marwan in season 4, and whoever it was in season 6...they've done it in every even-numbered season, so why stop now? Kind of the opposite of the old Trek movie rule. :D

I hadnt thought about it. But with BRAGA/COTO digging in, maybe its about time 24 jumped the shark and dealt with a ...gasp...subtle alien invaision from space!!!

Maybe give Freddie a chance to prove he can do the same? Before TSCC, I'm not sure anyone would have thought Brian Austin Green had the acting chops. I hope Freddie surprises everyone and does a great job.

I agree that Tony is too far gone to ever be set up as a replacement for Jack again. It's a shame...I thought what they did with him this season was interesting, but they definitely took the character to the point of no return, which is unfortunate in the long run. :(

As I recall, Tony really was a good guy the entire time, right? He was just going really 'ends justify the means' dark, right? His goal was always to uncover the leader of the conspiracy behind killing his wife, no matter what the cost. That's good for the country.

I like Freddie. I'll definitely give him a chance.

Tony could have worked as the star. He handled the mission scenes while Jack was at the FBI very well. It was cool seeing him in the field by himself.
