You want to talk about insanity? The General and the Chief of Staff are morons.

Only thing that would have made that Ethan scene work is if he were holding a bible when he had that heart attack.

I honestly want to try playing Devil's Advocate with this matter, trying to see if there is a way to justify the general and the staffer's point of view. But I'm having an awfully hard time doing so.

It's Pole-Vault-Over-The-Shark-Time once again on 24, folks!

Well, I lost count of how many people Jack took out, but at least he got a few. Red probably scored more kills.

"24 has just become too expensive to produce anymore, so TV is a fromat we can no longer continue on. We can't even afford to give our secondary cast prop walkie-talkies anymore!"

I'm all for protecting American lives first but I don't trust these terrorists as far as I can throw them and dealing with them always backfires.

Man, Jack's shooting percentage has dropped about 75 points in the last two episodes. He's moved into stormtrooper territory.

I'm serious. I am trying to see how to argue this from their perspective. But every time I try I come up with a counter that eliminates it. For example, give up Hassan to protect the city... okay I can see why they'd say that. But how does that look to EVERY other country? Why should ANY of their dignitaries ever trust being on American soil?

I agree, I just conveyed this part of the commentary to my wife, saying that this is one of the most contrived sub-plots that 24 has ever hatched.
