24: Day 8 - 1:00PM - 2:00PM: Discussion and Spoilers

If it wasn't for the movie, I would agree that Jack is going to die.

I don't see anyway Jack can avoid being thrown in jail or being on the run.

I'd vote for the on the run thing, there's to many people in CTU and what not still trying to help Jack (even though they know full well what he's doing), or somehow being cleared through all of this shit because of bringing the conspiracy to light.

I see Jack being jailed at the end of this season and being pulled out of jail some-time later in the movie to solve the crisis.

By the way, I'm going to call it right now that Jack is going to die next week. Just have a feeling. The movie will then be set sometime before season 8.
How long before? Remember he had a life-threatening viral disease between S7 and S8. When this season started his treatments were just ending.

I was hoping Hastings would pop up again but I don't see that being likely.

Jack did kill some Russian secret service agents who might not have been involved in the conspiracy.

Meredith should have posted the evidence on youtube. They never would have been able to stop it then.

Maybe she already did? It'd be an interesting twist if her arrest is pointless.

It was a pretty big plot hole that Jack didn't have his pal post it, though I guess they didn't have any way to duplicate the chip.

I suspect Jack's pal didn't want to get more mixed up in this than he already was. Although he really ought to have skipped town already.

I'm not sure if everything being a series of consequences based on Taylor's initial lie is supposed to be an indictment of her lying or just ironical.

I'm sure her arresting the reporter is what confirms to the President lady of Genericstan that the Russians were the ones behind her husband's assassination anyway.

Anyway, hopefully the finale ends with a bang. If Kim isn't behind the plot, I'd be completely disappointed. :p

Excellent episode.

I really loved the whole Iron man outfit scene, but Logan made it so much better. I enjoyed the way they did the Slaughter of the Russians. We just see the Aftermath. It was too brutal for tv, kind of like the Censored bars in Starship Troopers. The bug on Logan's collar was something Batman would have done.

I think the G-men would just bump off the reporter lady or arrest her as a terrorist. The Government can call anyone a terrorist now and just haul them off for good. They wouldn't take Jack alive, unless they have a strong compulsion to torture him.

Good episode tonight
But I think next week will end in war
Dalia Hassan: "You betrayed me.."
one can only presume she was yelling at President Taylor

Sniveling and begging for his life Logan... Jack decked out in body armor 44 minutes in Los Angeles style... too awesome! The Russian post-carnage panning...

So over the top, yet so damned cool! :techman:

They really think it's a good idea to announce your working with a major league disgraced former president?

Yeah, that would've been like Carter consulting with Nixon on some Middle East thing.

Nixon did wind up being a consultant to several US Presidents, the last being Clinton. He just didn't want the public credit for it like Logan. Despite his faults, Nixon was a brilliant politician and foreign policy strategist, so it would've been stupid in a policy sense not to pick his brain. Though politically he was probably still toxic. Nixon worked his redemption angle behind-the-scenes and I think the other presidents were more amenable to seeking out his advice when they realized he wasn't trying to get public notice for the most part.

Whereas, Logan wants the public redemption and is willing to trash Taylor's presidency to get it. I'm not quite sure I buy Taylor willing to go this far, it seems her arc is more plot than character driven, however I think Jones is doing a good job with her reluctant slide into ignominy. Some might not care for Mrs. Hassan, but I think she's okay. She's Mrs. Hot-san to me. That woman's gorgeous. Daughter's pretty too, I don't mind watching their scenes at all.

As for the episode, I loved it. Logan was the best part of the show. He's my second favorite president after Palmer and 24's best villain. It's just amazing to watch him work. Jack is a killing machine and next week, he takes on the UN. I really think next week should be the final hour for him but I'm sure they'll kept him around for movie options.

All this talk of Mrs hassan but it was revealed she was in on the whole thing, not sure if you guys caught that earlier in the episode when she was talking to her advisor.

Wouldn't you be scared? Especially with that mask
