The phrase "familiar foe" could go either way - red herring or actual direction.

It's probably the Senator. The only other option is Logan.

Long shot...could it be Noah Daniels? Ethan (who is very likely a mole) was his Secretary of Defense and he did order troops out of Sangala before Taylor was in office.

There was another Daniels reference when Ethan revealed that Olivia had leaked "damaging personal information" about Taylor's opponent, who was Daniels.

I don't think it's Daniels. Although the 'damaging personal information' most certainly had to have been his affair.

Also Morris O'Brien is going to be back again next week. It looks like the FBI tries to use him to get information about Jack from Chloe.

I have not read this entire thread, so apologies if this has been covered.

The assassin Quinn's mission to frame Jack Bauer--improvised with less than 30 minutes of planning--succeeded spectacularly. Quinn got to the hospital room (above it first), rewired the feed to the video monitors, gassed Jack and killed Burnett. But this entire operation to frame Jack and kill Burnettt would have FAILED COMPLETELY if anyone else was in the room with Jack, or if Agent Moss observed the interrogation through a window instead of a TV screen.

Quinn had to be unbelievably lucky to complete his mission. How did he know that Jack would be alone with Burnett? This was one of the most unrealistic events of the day. In fact, it's right up there with the congressional hearings that Jack was forced to attend at 8 AM.

Incidentally, I wish that Fox wouldn't pimp the cast of 24 to spread the global warming gospel.

Here we go...

And Mom and First Daughter make up. :p

I'd do the 1st daughter shes kinda hot!

Someone really needs to smack the Senator.

Or drive a Vista Cruiser up his ass.
I drive it up there sideways tires a smokin' doing 180°'s
Jack should just add him to his kill count (write him off as collateral damage), it’s obvious this so called senator doesn't get it!

Man, the White House hasn't looked this bad since Clinton left office!
At least there are no cum stains on the floor.

Silent clock.

-Chris
Yeah, I was surprised to see that at 8:11, nice send off for Bill.

Well, this is an episode worth talking about:

-Loved the silent clock after Bill was killed. It doesn't always need to be at the end of the show, but it's there for dramatic effect. It was quite cool to have it at the beginning this time.

-The Vice President and Senator Annorax are still bastards. Hopefully they both don't make it through this season.

-Great quiet type episode after last week's two hours. Need room to breath afterall and this sets up the rest of the season greatly. I've been liking this season much more than the last, but for some reason, I don't think we've seen the tipping point yet. I have a feeling we'll get up to season 5 conspiracy type levels, which is a great feeling because season 5 is my favorite season.

-Olivia is still quite hot.

Excellent

I wonder how the actor playing the VP feels about playing 24 Stock Pansy Character in Position of Power #46.

On season eight of 24...

Blonde CIA hottie: "One of the men behind the attack is someone you know."

Jack: "That's impossible. Bill Buchanan is dead."

Blonde CIA hottie: "We had his body exhumed. The man in that grave isn't Bill Buchanan."

Jack: "I was there when he died."

Blonde CIA hottie: "And a few minutes later you were flown away in an FBI helicopter."

Jack: "But what about the silent clock?"

So, can we speculate on what Voight's character's motivations are? Why is he planning such devastating attacks against his own country?

The President didn't believe in Sector Seven's claims about a Decepticon invasion, so he has to get weapons himself.

Milo didn't get a silent clock, and he was in two seasons! Hell, they gave a silent clock to Edgar Stiles. Edgar Freakin' Stiles!!! Some claim he's a fan favorite, but only if that fan was dropped on his/her head as a baby and then put in the microwave.

Bill :(

I never realized Edgar had gotten a silent clock. Probably because I was laughing so hard at his death.

I'm pretty sure the "familiar foe" is Daniels. He was in a clip for the montage of the entire season very early on.

Also, I think the First Daughter is in on this. Nice little switch? Pretends to be scared and makes up with Mommy -- and she's in. (Dad getting shot was a lucky coincidence for her to get into the White House. Perhaps his "framing" was to accomplish the same thing, only he wasn't supposed to get hurt). Remember, she didn't like Mommy after she was punished for screwing around with the campaign.

Ethan is worried that the offspring will screw things up, but not because he's the mole. Although if the "foe" is who I think it is ...

Lots of possibilities here.

Bill :(

I never realized Edgar had gotten a silent clock. Probably because I was laughing so hard at his death.

Silent Clocks:
Teri Bauer's death.
George Mason leaving CTU for the last time -destined to die.
David Palmer's collapse at the end of S2.
Ryan Chappelle's Death.
Edgar Style's Death.
Jack's reflecting on his life at the end of Day 6.
Jack's airlift out of the South African Country US Embassy.
Jack and Tony's burial of Agent Freckles earlier this season.
Bill Buchanan's Death.

So it has been used five times for a death (Teri, George, Ryan, Edgar, Bill) and four times for a "dramatic punch" (Palmer's collapse, Jack's reflection, the airlift, Freckle's Burial.)

Astoundingly, David Palmer, Michelle Dessler and Milo died and didn't get silent clocks. -most likely because their deaths either didn't occur close to a commercial break or the "action and momentum of the scene" didn't lend itself to a silent clock fitting in.

Milo got shot and it went to commercial, but no silent clock. After Edgar got one, you'd think more people would since by that point it's like either everyone gets candy or you don't bring it at all. Edgar!!!

VERY excellent idea TG. It makes you go hhmmmm?.

And I really didn't get him as a character other than wanting to protect his mom,...but wasn't it.....Edguh?...;)

It would make sense for Daniels to return, since Powers Boothe was brought back for the Redemption movie (which was filmed at about the time of this episode, IIRC) and the first daughter got into trouble for leaking personal information about her mother's opponent.

True that. I don't recall how much of a "foe" Daniels turned out to be though. Granted it's been a year since I watched S6.
