Hmm. I just have my doubts that we'll see that happen. There are less than 12 books a year, numerous TV series now all which will likely have their own tie ins, and probably at least 2 to 3 original series novels a year. I just don't see S&S publishing any future TNG-only books. I think any TNG based books would more likely be tied to Picard in some fashion and used to build more back story to that show, which is why I think they would carry the Picard title.
Sure, if it were a book that took place during the series run with little ties to Picard it would likely carry TNG banner. I just don't see S&S commissioning a book of that nature for the foreseeable future. That's just my opinion of course. I'd love to be proved wrong. But I think it just comes down to simple numbers. If nothing else TNG-only novels would just get squeezed out and when it comes down to it I don't see S&S squeezing out a new Discovery, Picard or even original series novel for a TNG-series based novel not tied to Picard enough to be marketed as a Picard novel.
I mean, personally, I already said I'd love to see tie-ins to all the currently run series, continuation of all the relaunches of all the prior spin-offs, more NF books, more Seeker novels, more original series novels, the occasional tie in to the prior spin-offs during the series run. I mean, under that scenario we'd likely be back to 24 books a year and needing about 50 new authors to take up all that extra work----and I'd love it all. But in reality I know that's just not going to happen. So it's not about personal preferences.
