I didn't realize next year was DS9's 25th Anniversary. I hope they can get things with the contract worked out soon enough that they can at get at least one DS9 anniversary novel out for the end of the year.
According to the DVD label, “Emissary” first aired on January 3, 1993. So unless my math is way off, January 3, 2018 is DS9’s 25th Anniversary.

It seems like a no brainer from a marketing perspective to do a 25th anniversary DS9 relaunch/soft reboot event. Something like the Legacy trilogy (which I assume sold well?) with a variety of writers, but set maybe a year in the future from the current books so most of the core characters can be rearranged to be on the station. Something new reader friendly with all the main characters from the show on the covers, and marketed as "Miss DS9? Jump on here".

I sure hope there's gooing to be a Ds9 book to celebrate it's 25th anniversary next year.

Maybe they're just stirring us up to reveal the DS9 3 or 5 part series that brings back all the original cast and the lost relaunch cast for a huge adventure that I've been dying for.

Yes, thats exactly whats happening, I've decided.

I'd settle for an anthology. I really enjoyed the ones that were put out for TNG's 20th and DS9 and Voyager's tenth, and was actually disappointed Enterprise didn't get one. I know publishing models change, but I'd like to see more of them, especially since it seems like the only way we'll get new in-series material for the non-TOS series...

Well, we did get a three book "TOS 50th anniversary" miniseries in 2016, but prior to that, the last anniversary fiction book we got was The Sky's the Limit which was a TNG 20th anniversary anthology in 2007.

Sounds good to me.
Or a short story anthology set during the show.
Meh, we already got that for the 10th, I'd rather get some different, like Burning Hearts' miniseries idea.

What about Cold Equations celebrating TNG's 25th in 2012? Also, Headlong Flight from this past year is arguably a 30th anniversary novel for TNG.

Given how little fanfare TNG's 30th anniversary seemed to recieve this year, I don't hold out much hope for DS9's 25th anniversary next year.

I see what your saying, and feel like you - those novels could have been considered anniversary tales. I was simply noting that there was nothing I recall on the front or back cover copy on any of these books, nor (IIRC) anything in the advertising for these books that made me think they were being celebrated as an anniversary tale. The Sky's the Limit, Prophecy and Change and Distant Shores all had cover copy that referenced the 20th or 10th anniversary of their respective series.

IIRC, Cold Equations was promoted as a 25th anniversary tale.

I’m going to guess this is the first novel of the 2018 publishing year. Perhaps once everything with the contract was lined out, another Discovery novel was their first priority. But I’m assuming we’ll get news on another novel after the new year, hopefully for release in July.

So given that a new book is being released on June 05, 2018, does this mean that the new contract has been signed?

I think this is the third of the DSC novels under the old contract. It's way, way too early for anything under the new contract to be announced. Again, remember, the licensing deals have nothing to do with when books are released. Bantam was releasing Trek novels up to 2 years after its license ended, because it generally takes 1-2 years to get a book from contract to publication.

All it really means it there may not be any new novels until July or August at the earliest.
I remember a time in STO when content development nearly came to a standstill because Atari sold Cryptic Studios. We called it the “Year of Hell”.
Looks like the novel line gets its share of it now. :rommie::(
