2012 Dream Journal & Interpretation Thread

It's been a while since we last had a thread on this subject, and I've had many interesting dreams since then, as I'm sure you have, too.

I actually experienced a lucid dream state last night, which isn't something that happens to me very often. Some of the details were very vivid to me.

Although the story was a bit vague, the dream had something to do with me and a couple of lady co-workers (whom I don't work with closely in real life) going to some kind of Easter egg or scavenger hunt, and each of us went our own ways. What happened afterwards didn't matter as much as the details of the dream itself, which were quite vivid.

I live in the East Bay (SF Bay Area), and I remember driving my car to the Peninsula to get to a city (Burlingame, Foster City, etc.). As soon as I got through the San Mateo Bridge/Highway 92, there was a fork ahead, which doesn't really exist in reality. So I took the left fork, then I ended up taking another exit, and before I knew it, I was at a shopping center with a Burlington Coat Factory store. So I took out my smartphone to "check in" on Facebook, as I often do IRL, and took a picture of the upper dome of the store, which looked like a mosque and had the store's logo on it. For some reason, I assumed I was in Burlingame because of the store's name Burlington.

I realized then I was far from my actual destination, so I continued on to search for whatever item or items it was that I needed. When I met up with the my two lady co-workers in another place, I told them that I had taken a few wrong exits and ended up getting lost. I remember one lady showing me pictures of the places she visited, and I asked her if she was going to post them on-line to share with others.

Perhaps the most vivid part of my dream was being in this beautiful city that almost looked European in style. Although I've never been to Europe, I likened the building structures and the atmosphere to the pictures and TV shows I've seen. At the same time, it felt like I was somewhere still in the Peninsula. I was driving my car on a city street, and I came upon this large loop or plaza in the middle of the downtown area. Around the plaza were some buildings similar to the ones found in Budapest, Rome, London, or Bratislava, with some neo-classical designs. I didn't know if they were hotels or stores.

I decided to go into one of the buildings, and that's when I dreamed in a lucid state. I thought to myself, I must be in a dream, and then realized I was. Everything from the marble floors to the polished wooden wall panels to the chandeliers hanging from the colorful square-patterned ceilings was visually stunning. I wandered through the exquisite hallways, turning from one corridor to the next. I opted to touch the wall panel and really felt its cold, smooth texture with my hand. I saw a gentleman with a British accent helping a woman customer with a question about her "order," so I figured I must've been in a store.

After some time, I realized I wanted to get back outside because I needed to put more more gas in my car. I couldn't find a door anywhere; then it came to me--I didn't really need one! This was a dream, after all. I said to myself I would just walk through one of the walls to get out, and voila! I phased right through.

I really wish I had more vivid and lucid dreams like that. Anything you'd like to share? What say you?

A few weeks ago, I couldn't sleep, so I just rested in bed instead. I had this weirdo half asleep half lucid dream. It was this series of conversations with everyone from friends, coworkers, dead relatives, celebrities, pro athletes, etc. Wacky shit.

Just had this a couple days ago..cannot tell anyone, LOL

I dreamed I came home after being away (I was away at the time) and mr. teacake had gotten a HUGE four panel cartoon tattooed on his stomach. mr. teacake has no tattoos. The cartoon was Dilbert style people in Star Fleet uniforms. I leaned into mr. teacake's stomach to read it.. a disagreement was going on between a red shirt and a blue shirt character at the end of which a gold shirt came in, grabbed a Uhura action figure and thew it into a wormhole thingie which would utterly destroy it.

mr. teacake said, "isn't this comic hilarious?!"

And I started screaming at him that enslavement and violence against black women was NOT hilarious and I was absolutely furious he thought it was. I woke up VERY ANGRY.

Last night I dreamed I arrived on the scene of a brutal home invasion and murder. I was afraid the police would think me guilty of the crime. Fortunately the body of the victim turned into a burrito and I began to eat it in hopes of destroying evidence. Unfortunately, it was one of those huge mission-style burritos and I've never been able to finish one of those in one sitting. I had only eaten 2/3 of the burrito by the time the police arrived.

This time it's hotter and cheesier than ever. Tuesdays on NBC.

I had a dream that my youngest son was elected Governor of Tasmania. This in itself is unusual because in Australia governors are appointed by the government not elected.

Because my son was unmarried he asked me to move into Government House to perform the duties that a governor's wife usually performs.

We packed up our portable belongings and caught the bus to Government House. We had to climb over the fence near the bus-stop because there was no gate there.

We knocked on the door and the butler answered. He warmly welcomed us and said he would show us to our apartments. I was trying to work out where I had met this butler before but then I realised he was the spitting image for Jeremy Brett who played Sherlock Holmes in the TV series.

He led us through beautiful rooms packed with antiques. Then we went through a really nice, modern kitchen. Then he started to led us down a flight of stairs into the basement where our apartment was.

We went in. The two bedroom apartment was half the size of my current house and it had rising damp and mold and smelt horribly.

My son told me that since he the governor he had first option on the larger bedroom leaving me with the small, poky bedroom.

I decided to start cleaning the apartment. I was complaining to my son about the poor conditions but he was too busy setting up his Xbox to listen to me.

I decided to go up to the kitchen to cook something for lunch but was told by the staff that I wasn't allowed to cook in the kitchen and that I would have to use the microwave in my apartment. I went back down and looked at the microwave but it was filthy. I started to cry and the dream ended.

teacake and thestrangequark - I love your dreams.

I don't recall the whole dream, but William Shatner made a cameo in one of mine recently. My mother, sister and I were standing around in a red-carpeted location that was simultaenously part of the London Underground and a theatre lobby. We were waiting for something (a play to start or a tube, I don't know, though the feeling was one of concluding the day so I guess we were waiting to going home.) As we stood there, bored, William Shatner sort of wandered over and started trying to talk to us. We were irritable as only someone who spent the day on the London Underground can be, and so we brushed him off. There was nothing significant to his presence, I must add, it just happened to be William Shatner. Why my mind cast him in the role of "mildly irritating NPC to add a splash of colour to the scene" I don't know.

Hmmm, I wonder if the red lobby/tunnel with the family waiting inside was representative of the womb, given my mother's current medical problems? The shape is actually rather eerily appropriate, now I think of it. If so...then clearly what I'm being told here is that William Shatner is actually my father. Oh dear.

 Oh dear, indeed! I like how you added your own interpretation to the dream using symbology (e.g., the shape of the room relative to your mother's condition).

I was listening to the radio ad one day, and there now appears to be a sleep supplement on the market named "Alpha Brain" or something. I'll have to look it up ... It's supposed to help with memory or concentration, but it isn't a drug. What's more interesting is that it can give a person some very lucid dreams. I'm quite leery about taking meds or supplements that are supposed to help with the brain (thinking they could do more harm than good).

I've noticed I haven't had too many of the recurring dreams lately (like living in a large house, traveling to a distant city, etc.).

I've often had dreams about being late for work, and I had one last night. I was back in the old country, and my relatives and I were staying at our old house (just like we share a house here in California). I remember having a conversation with my oldest sister Dana and my brother Mel at night that seemed to go on for hours. In fact, when I looked at the clock, it was already 5:30 a.m.! I thought, "Damn! I'm not going to get much sleep." I normally set my alarm for 7:00 a.m. on weekdays, so I figured I wouldn't get much sleep at all and would be feeling groggy all day in the office. The other alternative was for me was to notify my supervisor and come in at a later time.

In reality I haven't had any problems lately getting to work on time. Worst case scenario is when there's a massive traffic jam and I have to take a different route, and that doesn't happen very often. Then I get in an hour late and just use my vacation time. But when I dream about this, there's always a sense of urgency to get to work. Some of my co-workers, on the other hand, don't get in until 8:30 or 9 a.m., but that's another story.

i as dreaming i was working in a shop last night and whilst i was there, Kirk's Tights came in with two friends she was visiting Britain with and she was rather upset about the shitty bus service and i was talking to her and then gave her a hug and kissed her on the cheek to try to cheer her up.

then i woke up.

the other week i was dreaming some guy named Baron Harkonen had seized the throne of Britain and i was going to challenge him to a fight, and when i won i was going to make Prince William and Catherine the King and Queen of Canada and then make them King and Queen of the Commonwealth before abdicating more and more powers to them until i stepped down. as i was telling my supporters of this plan (in my kitchen at home), Catherine suddenly appeared and asked if this meant i was going to force her to be my Queen and when i assured her i wouldn't, she was very relieved....

analyse THAT.

Last night I dreamed I was watching an instructional youtube video on how to pickle giant squashes whole. Where to get big enough jars, that was my worry throughout it.

I had a dream that I was with Hitler and his woman in their bunker when they topped themselves. It was weird. I think I was some sort of Allied spy - well I started out that way, but in the end I just felt sorry for the poor guy. Weird

I had a dream that the Queen died and I was in the crowd lining the street for the funeral. I was talking to the people around me and found out we all were Trekbbs members. We decided that the funeral was boring so we wanted to go and have a meal instead but everything was closed for the funeral so we just stood around in a park.

I should add that one of the people was Nick who I recognised from the TV show he was on. I said "aren't you Nick from Trekbbs" and that is when the other people said they were Trekbbsers too. Strangely two other people in this thread were ther, teacake and Deranged Nasat, and DN looked like the thing in his avatar. I won't say who the other 5 were except for Holdfast who was so nicely dressed.

Wow

The only TrekbBser that I have ever dreamed about was partsking. I met him at a party, or something .... this was years ago now

I refuse to believe Holdfast is ever anything but nicely dressed. :)

As for myself, clearly I need to get on TV too, or else I'm doomed to be depicted as a giant blue pillbug. But I'm glad to have made my dream debut...

And Collingwood Nick, with all of time and space to occupy, your mind decided the place you were needed most was Hitler's bunker? I can picture you sitting there awkwardly and nodding along to whatever Hitler's ranting about so he won't get suspicious.
