Miranda Hart is a (very) tall and (sorta) well-known standup comedienne and actress, known for playing exactly the character you saw in the video above. Nerds know her as the female lead against Nick Frost in the mediocre show "Hyperspace" from a few years back. I know her as a guest star on BBC Radio's "The 99p Challenge".

The songs okay, but the video gives me a headache.
Its mostly when they say it on the show that I get all stabby.

Interestingly they don't mention that Strax died at the battle of Demon's Run in his bio there, so we still can't place where or when he's from in the Christmas special - pre-Demon's Run, or perhaps he didn't actually die. I certainly didn't get the impression from the episode that he'd previously known Vastra & Jenny.
