2011 sequel announced

Star Trek: Where No Man Has Gone Before

Simple, effective, and it pays tribute to the Original, no?

That would be a GREAT title. They'd make in "No One" but still would be very effective.

One thing I wonder is about new characters being brought into the next film. I would think likely suspects would be...

-Nurse Chapel

-Gary Mitchell: You could work Mitchell in really easily. Just say he's an old friend of Kirk (and McCoy) from the Academy. Since Chekov is navigator, just move Mitchell to security.

-Carol Marcus. Love interest for Kirk although I'm sure they'll be throwing him into the Spock/Uhura mix.

That's good there will be a sequel. Hopefully we'll have a whole series of them to look forward to.

The girl I'm seeing isn't a Trekker at all, but she's going with me the next time I see it. Her mother told her that the young crew has signed on already to do AT LEAST 2, maybe even three...I dunno what the woman's source was...But that'd be SO cool. Things need to be fixed.

I was really hoping that Kirk woulda got it on with Carol Marcus instead of that Orion chick...that would've made so much sense.

It should be set a few years in the future, and have our heroes all inexplicably relocated to a distant planet.

Star Trek 2: The Quickening

I reckon a sequel might involve the Vulcan refugees struggle to establish a colony on another world - with Spock Prime appearing once again... against a backdrop of persecution against the Vulcan remnant - after all, my belief was that Vulcan was one of the most advanced cultures in the universe... hence, their planet is gone, and few are left after it's destruction - subsequently, perhaps the universe enters something of a dark age, as the Vulcan influence no longer holds sway across the Federation...

Speculation is fun!!!

:techman:

I read that Abrams wanted to include a snippet with her in it, but time didn't permit. So, it's reasonable that he might include it in the sequel to the prequel.

Add Janice Rand to the list. And if Pike returns, it'd be nice to see Number One as well, even if it's a brief appearance. Catherine Bell maybe? I dunno.

I think the second movie will have the young crew exploring a planet( like a normal tv episode) Spock is called by the new Vulcan high council to help relocate Vulcans.

Introduce the new threat

Spock's loyalties are torn between the Enterprise crew and Vulcan's

I think that pretty much got cleared up at the end there where prime spock told himself to stay in starfleet.

You know, if Spock's fiance T'Pring survived Vulcan, that could provide him with his human/Vulcan conflict. Be with T'Pring the Vulcan or Uhura the human.

if they use Khan in the sequel or a future film, they better get a great actor to play him, I'm thinking someone like Daniel Day Lewis.

And the sequel is already better, Damon Lindelof is joining the writing the team and he is of course the co-creator of Lost and has been running the show for basically the last Two years. And I think he's the big Trek fan out of the people from Lost group.
