Firing Andy Reid this year would be exactly the kind of knee-jerk reaction that would ensure the Eagles' return to mediocrity.

ESPN Expert Picks

Anybody see these for last week? Everybody picked the Eagles.

I just don't see how a win over one of the worst teams in the league and the Cowboys is considered a hot streak? Oh well.

BECAUSE THEY'RE THE DREAM TEAM!!!

I'm a card-carrying Bears hater, but I picked 'em in the confidence pool over Philly. Granted, I assigned it only a single point.

What do you mean return to mediocrity? They ARE mediocre RIGHT NOW.

Yes, but we don't know if it's just a one-year hiccup or a sign of things to come. If the Eagles are still doing poorly next year, then you probably consider firing Reid. But not this year, not after the success he's brought to the team over the past decade. It's way too soon.

They were playing well and looked like they had their act together. Don't forget that, even though they looked like crap, they could have won that game. They had the lead and only needed a defensive stop.

The game wouldn't have been as close as it looked if (the usually sure-handed) Forte hadn't fumbled the ball twice.

I was telling another bar patron, on these "fines" is, we need a new Commissioner that is still on the side of player safety but not PREJUDICED......HOW the fuck can you take something that is taught as a textbook lead with your shoulder leap as Ryan Clark did on Dickson,...and have a lesser fine for the "TAKE Hines Ward out" contract instigator making sure his helmet was right fucking there?!?!?!!?

^Not saying that I'm for or against the fines, but the price difference probably has something to do with the fact that Clark was fined last weekend too...

Wow. My Texans could actually be going to the playoffs this year. I'm not sure how to handle that.

Football Outsiders puts Houston's odds at 95 percent of making the playoffs. Looking at the division, that might not be far off. The Colts turning into the worst team in the league is quite an opening. This would be the first time ever for Houston to make the playoffs, right?

I could see Tennessee righting the ship and making a race of it, but it wouldn't be my first bet.

The AFC South is Houston's this year. I feel bad for them, though; they're finally going to make the playoffs, but everyone's going to say stuff like "Yeah, now trying doing it when Peyton Manning is healthy."

I refuse to believe the Texans will make the playoffs until they actually do it..... I don't care how bad the rest of the division has become, there are still 8 games for the Texans to figure out how to give their berth away. Biggest tease in the league until they prove they aren't.

Not only have the Texans never been to the playoffs (and are the only team to have never been to the playoffs), they've also only ever had one season above .500 (2009, they were 9-7).

I agree, there is still plenty of time for them to figure out a way to lose the division title. And its still possible that if the Titans pass them in the division, 2nd place wouldn't be good enough for a wildcard spot.

And don't think I don't know that!

The difference this year is Wade Phillips and the defense. And without Andre Johnson they've they've turned into a hell of a running team with Foster and Tate. We'll see.

I still don't trust Gary Kubiak though. And if the Texans don't make the playoffs this year, Kubiak will finally be gone. They've been given the division on a silver platter.

Only following play summaries on my phone app but the Chargers are making Carson Palmer look like Joe Montana and are playing like a Suck for Luck frontrunner. Just my luck picking them in my survivor pool.

I'm not that bad, but I did decide to start them over the Giants defense under a theory that the Raiders would suck.
