2011 NFL Season - A New Game

Only following play summaries on my phone app but the Chargers are making Carson Palmer look like Joe Montana and are playing like a Suck for Luck frontrunner. Just my luck picking them in my survivor pool.
Carson Palmer did a good job making himself look like Joe Montana. He was carrying a perfect passer rating through most of the 3rd quarter until that interception.

The AFC South is Houston's this year. I feel bad for them, though; they're finally going to make the playoffs, but everyone's going to say stuff like "Yeah, now trying doing it when Peyton Manning is healthy."

I don't think they engrave that on the Lombardi Trophy, so I wouldn't worry much. You play the hand you're dealt.

Can't wait till the Niners game this weekend. National game, Fox's A team (that may be a good or bad thing) calling the game, and the 49ers have an opportunity to test themselves heading into the postseason. Hopefully it's a good game with a 49ers win.

Can't wait to see the Jets win over the patriots.

As much as I hate to say it, I picked against my beloved Pats this week.

I think this will be the week the 49ers get exposed as a decent team in a terrible division rather than a real contender.

With the expectations going into the season, I would gladly accept that, knowing that something special is being built with Harbaugh as Coach. Like I said, this is the first time since the Philly game that the 49ers will have a big test. I hope they live up to the occasion.

If my math is correct (and it probably isn't), as long as the Saints win the NFC South, the Bears hold the tiebreaker over every serious NFC wildcard contender aside from the Lions, and since they're the Lions, they're probably going to melt down.

I'm kind of torn about this, because making the playoffs is really the only metric by which Jerry Angelo and Lovie Smith are measured, so it's an endorsement of mediocrity. I'm not sure how many more of Lovie's "Well, we saw some problems, but we'll address those in private" press conferences I can take.

The thing that worries me about the Bears making the playoffs is they might not fire Martz after the season.

Are my eyes deceiving me, or did the Redskins turn to the Sex Cannon again? :guffaw:

Unleash the Dragon once more, you beautiful fucker.

WTF? Switching to another game. I could understand it if the team in front has a record of holding onto leads and winning but that's not the Cowboys this year. I called into CBS sports and complained. I missed 10 points scored by the offense. I'm emailing and writing CBS sports as well. Judging by the wait time, ~ 10 minutes, they were getting a lot of calls, I'm betting most about switching during the middle if a game. Does the Heidi Game, not ring a bell with them?

They were leading by 27 points with 5 minutes to go..... it doesn't get much more out of hand than that. I'm not sure what the issue is other than them switching out of a game you were watching.

Denver has its first winning "streak" since this time 2009! The running offense kept chugging along surprisingly well considering that we lost out top two RB's within 5 plays of eachother in the first quarter. Tebow was 2-8 passing, which is a bad number that doesn't tell the whole story. Out of 8 passes, 5 were long shots to the end zone- 1 caught, and 4 missed catchable passes that were either dropped or defended, but all were in the same zip code as the recievers today. The 3 short passes were 1 caught, 1 dropped, and 1 ugly skipper. He looks like he's improving, but he's not getting many chances to show it. But as long as we're winning, it works for me. Defense played pretty good today. Miller made a habit of terrorizing Cassel and got another sack.

At the beginning of the season, I thought that if we got to 6-10 I would be pleased because it shows we're moving in the right direction. 4 weeks ago, I had completely given up on that and thought that we would be as bad, if not worse, than last year. Now we've won 3 out of 4 and with 7 games to play, we're only 2 games out of that 6-win target. I'm suddenly optimistic that we may even be able to break past that!

And in the meanwhile, I'm in the heart of Dane County, Wisconsin, which undoubtedly has far more interest in the Bears / Lions game, but instead we're stuck with the NO / ATL overtime clusterfuck.

Edit: Oh, fuck, no one told me it was motherfucking Thom Brennaman calling the game. Never mind! :barf:

Okay... if anybody on ESPN says that the Phillies are still Super Bowl contenders next week, they need to be fired and blacklisted from sports broadcasting.

I hate the philosophy: "I'm surprised they overturned that one from the original call since it was called ____." That's what the daggum challene flags are for.

Not sure if that was a catch, but I'll take it.

The Cowboys blew a 24 point lead not long ago. It was stupid of them to switch, here in San Antonio, TX. In NY I can understand, but not Texas.
